Toast and Jam
Posted on May 28, 2007 - Filed Under Cat
Those’re my cats’ names. Figures they’d be named after food, right? Toast is the male ginger-orange cat we took in to keep our female, Jam, company. Turns out Jam didn’t really like Toast very much. Five years later, they still don’t get along. Both are fixed. Jam was a stray so we thought it would be really tough on her to convert her into an indoor cat but she has adjusted well. Toast seems to have adjusted well too, but he really loves himself some grass. Whenever we come in from being out in the yard, we have to pull out a handful of grass to bring in for him to eat. He’ll wait right by that door howling and practically bowl you over to get at it. He eats it a blade at a time so you have to stand there and hold it for him to gnaw on. Yes, our “kids” are spoiled!

Jam’s colours are beautiful! We have a Tortoise shell like her, she’s a maniac. and also not very social. I heard tell that tortoise shells were crazy. it’s in their DNA or something. Anyway, Cinda (that’s her name - she’s just over a year) rarely has anything to do with anyone. She’s a cat who enjoys her alone time. Kozmo, our Black and white 3 year old is king of the house, but he loves to punch Cinda in the face. they’re quite hilarious, really.
Thank you Laura! I think Jam mostly is solitary also but she used to have a lot more to do with us humans before we brought Toast into the mix. I definitely vote for the crazy DNA! That explains a lot. LOL
I think Toast is crazier, although Jam did climb in front of me while I was on the ladder and tried to push me off, so maybe they are both nuts.
