Mimic Mutts Revisited

Finally! I have made great strides in the meatless hot dog quest. I found one ingredient that makes a big difference in the flavor of the wheat gluten. They still don’t taste 100% like a hot dog, but
- they are edible
- they look good in a hotdog roll and
- they go well with mustard, dill relish, and onions (probably ketchup too but I don’t eat my hot dogs that way)
so they will foot the bill. Niece #1 tells me that they are kinda chewy. She’s right. But I want them to have a bite to help me not miss the meat so much. Also, they can be taken to a cookout and you can fit right in with your omnivorous friends, even using standard cookout condiments!
In other news, TGH thinks I’m being mean to Frances Rivera. The truth is that I think she is beautiful. There just is something about her that makes me think of those puppets. If I wanted to be mean, I’d say someone looked like this puppet. That would be mean.

These look awesome! I have just started experimenting with seitan. Are you willing to offer the recipe you’re using for these mimic mutts? I would loooove to make my own hotdogs. I live in Malaysia and the only veggie dogs we get here are imported and so expensive!
Your Mimic Mutts are pretty freakin’ cool. That would definitely make it to the sniff test and maybe even beyond. I would totally become a vegetarian if it weren’t for the fact that I don’t like vegetables. You can see where that might present a problem.
LOL. Yeah, I can definitely see that being a bit of a problem! So don’t go vegetarian, Peter. We’d rather have you alive and healthy than starved to death.
Wow, you did do it! Awesome!
Looks pretty impressive huh? LOL.
