Teeni’s Tips XIV
Posted on July 14, 2007 - Filed Under Food, Teeni's Tips
Dear nieces and nephews, this tip actually comes from my mom and makes a lot of sense.
We all know that fresh lemon and lime juices kick butt over the bottled concentrate kind. But they are not always on sale and it’s sometimes hard to justify that little amount of juice for that big price tag. Well, worry no more. Let the freezer save you some cash-o-la once again. Buy a bunch of them when you see them for a good price and squeeze them at home and freeze the juice in little containers or ziplock type freezer baggies. D’uh - I know (smacks self in forehead)- so simple why didn’t I ever think of that on my own? Just another one of those little things. Hope it helps you out.
Love, your auntie

That’s a good idea!

(HOW do you get the award picture into the text box..I can’t figure where to find the code?
I tried the properties of the gif but it doesn’t make a pic!!!
(sounds like a good song..lol)
thanks in advance, and I won’t bother you again
It’s such a great idea. We have a big grapefruit tree and when they are fruiting, we are so GRAPEFRUITED-OUT that we can’t eat, juice or even give away the huge bounty that our tree produces. So we freeze the juice, and then in summer, when we feel the need for some grapefruit juice (mixed with tequila, perhaps?) we thaw out a few cubes. Bliss!
I need to do the same with lemons from my mother’s tree. And find somebody with a lime tree
LOL. Too funny, Hannah. But you are sooo lucky to have a grapefruit tree - that is awesome. And lemons from your mom’s tree - that is great. Wish I had produce that fresh where I am. Ahh, you just added a great idea to freeze everything in the ice cube trays so you can plop them out whenver you need them (perhaps right into a drink without diluting it, as you suggested). Too cool.
