Differences Between Kids and Adults
Posted on July 16, 2007 - Filed Under Got Me Thinking
My friend Opal posted about how her daughter misheard the correct lyrics to a song here. That got me thinking. Isn’t it funny how a child can mishear a song’s lyrics but what they DO hear actually still makes some kind of sense (even if only in their own little worlds). However, an adult will mishear a song’s lyrics and what they actually hear makes absolutely NO sense at all yet they will continue to sing it their way rather than face the facts or look up the actual lyrics. I’m guilty of this myself, of course. I totally mangled ELO’s Evil Woman for a couple of years, thinking they were actually singing “Medieval Woman,” which really makes no sense in the song but that is what I was sure I heard. LOL. Check out more instances of misheard lyrics here. It is pretty funny.

So funny! As a little kid, my sister would sing “every time you go away, you take a piece of MEAT with you” and one day I thought “that’s just NOT RIGHT” and then figured out what she was doing wrong! LOL!!
Here are a few of my sister’s when she was little:
“Rollin’, Rollin’, Rollin’ down the RAILROAD” (instead of River…
“There’s a bathroom on the right” CCR
“Louie, Louie” was beyond repair!!!
“Little Bo-Peep and the Man In the Moon” instead of Little Boy BLUE and the Man In The Moon…
I could go on and on…lol
LOL Harmonia - those are too cute.
Hannah - that cracked me up. What would be really funny is if she was now a vegetarian. heehee
LOL I always get a chuckle at the things my daughter says. I usually like her interpretation a lot more.
Take a piece of meat with you…lol
