fruit skewers

It was a bit of prep work to make these little fruit skewers, but they were worth it because my little GNiece liked them when we got together for an impromptu tea party yesterday afternoon. They are put together thusly: a blueberry, followed by a raspberry, followed by half a cherry and then another blueberry to hold them on the toothpick.

Actually it was mostly the cherries that were a pain, the rest was a cinch - just wash and spear the blueberries and raspberries. But the cherries needed to be cut and pitted after washing so that was a little messy but again, well worth it. Aren’t they cute?

I got the fancy little beaded toothpicks at the Christmas Tree Shop and they were perfect for a little tea party. We used GNiece’s little porcelain tea party cups and saucers, plus had some iced tea, peanut butter cookies, brownies, and orange/cranberry scones to go along with these skewers. It was simpleee mahvellous! But next time we won’t do it so close to dinnertime! :)

Hmm - I just checked my Tea Room Subjects and Tea is there in alphabetical order where it should be so I don’t know what happened. Some glitch? Anyhoo it looks okay to me now. I’m on my way over for a hot (or cold) cuppa with you now!

I made the iced tea as well as the skewers. Everything else was actually purchased at Whole Foods, except the brownies which our friend made. But I am happy to say that I did EAT some of everything even if I didn’t MAKE everything. LOL - actually I really shouldn’t be proud of that. heehee

LOL :) Ah, but getting to enjoy a bit of it all is the most fun part, I think! Sounds like it was a great day…

Heather - sorry so late in responding - they WERE fun to make. I highly recommend these for a tea party with a child and if you don’t have a child you should definitely borrow one (like I do) so you can have a little tea party! Any excuse to eat fun, girly, yum foods, to wear a frilly hat and boa, or whatever! Everyone should try this IMHO - even teddy bears and Daddies!
