Cinnamon Rolls - what could be more divine?
These easy and simple rolls metamorphed from this post I made about pizza rolls. I used this online recipe for my pizza dough, using about 2 cups whole wheat flour and 1 cup all purpose flour.
Anyway, the shape of the pizza rolls ended up making me think of cinnamon rolls so I figured I’d try making some with that dough recipe as the basis. It worked.
All I did was spread the rolled out dough into as large a rectangle as I could (I used a rolling pin) then spread a little organic butter (you could use a substitute or probably just honey) sprinkled the entire exposed area with brown sugar and cinnamon and topped it off with some golden raisins. Then, you roll em up, slice them, let them rise for 1/2 hour and bake. I then made a glaze with just a tablespoon of milk (can use soy, rice, or any milk) and 1/2-3/4 cup of powdered sugar. I suppose you could add sugar right into the dough before rolling it out if you prefer sweeter rolls, but these did the job for me without it.
