More Kitchen - During But Closer to After
Posted on August 3, 2007 - Filed Under DIY or D-I-Y, Home Improvement
Here are some updated photos of our kitchen. It is still in the “during” phase but much closer to being finished. With little money and lots of new counterspace, the best way to finish the countertops was with tile. I love the way it came out.
Still have to do the backsplash but we are getting there.
A little cluttered looking because not all the shelves are in the cabinets yet and the cabinets don’t all have doors yet. But here are our new stools. They swivel and have a wine design on the backs.
Here is an area of floating cabinets (not as deep as the other cabinets but still gives us more storage) behind the stools. It now has a matching tile countertop on top that is not shown in this pic.

Here is our new floor! People warned us about black - that it would show up the dirt - but it really isn’t so bad and it looks wicked sharp compared to what was there before. I love it! BTW - it is not real slate but a pergo-type floor. TGH did a great job installing it all himself (along with everything else). The paper bag is tipped on its side because our cats like to play in them whenever I come home from food shopping.

Finally, here is one cabinet with a set of doors on it so you can see what they all will look like when they are done. I still can’t believe TGH built these all himself, while working full-time and everything! They look great! And I love my ceiling.

So now you are all pretty up to date on this project. I’ll post pics of our other projects like gardens, porch and other rooms in the future.

Wow! Wow! Wow! It’s truly lovely.
Thanks for including us in on the transformation.
Looks AMAZING!!! I LOVE the black floor. We have charcoal tiles in our bathrooms and I don’t find that they show the dirt any more than white! And besides, they look STYLEY!!!
Thank you Opal and Hannah. It is nice to get your feedback and to see what you think, even better that you seem to like it!
How lovely it all looks! Are you constantly going in (even when you dond’t have to be therer) and admiring?
Your husband must be proud ,too!
LOL. I hardly ever LEAVE the kitchen nowadays - now that I eat a healthier, more vegetarian diet I find I’m always obsessing about food, cooking it, eating it, prepping it, looking up more recipes, etc. When not doing those things, I’m out food shopping! heehee. But I am really loving the way the kitchen is coming out and TGH deserves all the credit. Even the electricians we contracted out to had only good things to say about the work he has done so I am really proud of him. He’s the best.
