Batch of Blueberries

Posted on August 6, 2007 - Filed Under Flowers/Gardening, Food, Gluten Free, Low Fat, Soy Free, Vegan, Vegetarian

I’m fortunate to know a friend who grows wild blueberries in her yard. Last year she gave me at least three gallon size zipper bags of frozen ones. I have been using them about 1/2 cup at a time in my smoothies that I have every day or so. They are delicious. So when she needed help picking them this year I thought it was the least I could do. My mom joined and the three of us filled about four bowls full - the bowls were at least 10 inches in diameter. Then my friend said that more would be ready again in about a week. So I guess I’ll be picking more berries next week! LOL. I can’t complain - guess what she sent me home with? Look. Yum.

    Great pic! I love it!

Yeah, this one came out pretty good although I’m no good with a camera. I think the pretty color contrast between the green grass and the blue berries makes up for my ineptness, though. Or I could just admit I was just lucky with this one. LOL

We had blueberries this year. I have two blueberry trees. The first batch hasn’t done well I’m hoping for more next year and I’ll purchase more of the cute little trees. You have a nice friend but I imagine she did that because you are a wonderful person. :-)
Oh, Opal, I hope your trees do better next year. They are kinda cute little trees anyway though, aren’t they? Thank you so much for the kind words but don’t spread that around, okay? It’s better when people think I’m an evil little troll because then they can’t take advantage of me! LOL

    YUMMO!!

What a neat photo too - love the contrasting colours of the blue fruit and vivid green grass. Just gorgeous!!

I’m craving blueberries now!! I think I have some frozen … perhaps I’ll make muffins today …

I love blueberries. We have a local farm down here that has Pick You Own. I like to take the kids over there and let them pick and learn that food just doesn’t come from the market.

Thanks, Hannah. Now I want muffins too. LOL. Maybe I’ll make some tomorrow. Mmmmm.

Mark - that is a great thing to teach the kids. What a wonderful way to have some quality time with your kids and give them some really nice memories.

OH!!! I just want to dive right in and take a big scoop and smell their blueberry goodness…then gobble them up! How wonderful of your friend to share their bounty.

And, if you are an “evil little troll”, then I’m a Skeksis: http://www.puppet.org/museum/pix/skeksis_thumb.jpg

    lol ;)
Yes, my friend is awesome. Yikes a Skeksis! Ahh - good one - those are scary looking things, aren’t they? LOL. But also, a puppet, so right up my alley. Blaqberry you are too cool!
