Sidewalk Art
Posted on August 16, 2007 - Filed Under Art?, Just for Fun, Real Art

See what I can do with some sidewalk chalk and a 4-1/2 year old to entertain? Sorry, Heather and my other artsy friends, if I put you out of business after everyone sees this. LOL. In the lower right hand of the window pane, the funny looking blob thing is a bird of some sort. I always used to draw windows with curtains like this when I was a kid. Apparently I still do. ![]()
For some real sidewalk art go here. I’ve seen these before and you may have too, but they never cease to amaze me and I could keep going back and looking over and over again. Enjoy!

your window is great; children love it when grown-ups draw with them regardless of what you think it looks like!
I’ve seen those sidewalk drawings you linked to, they are amazing!
Thanks, Heather. You always have a kind word. But now that you said it I think you are right! My dad used to make little snake monsters out of clay when my sisters and I were young and we thought they were the most awesome works of art back then. Now I remember them and they were silly, easily made, rolled pieces with huge exaggerated open mouths just to thrill us kids. Makes me laugh to remember what an “artist” dad was! Kids aren’t as critical as adults and are easily impressed (just stresses the importance of good role models even more). Ah, that was a nice memory! Thanks for that.
It’s great, Teeni! And Heather is right, kids don’t care if you can draw well or not! They just love the experience. And it’s amazing the creations they can come up with when you let them have a go.
Those sidewalk art pieces are incredible; I have seen some before but not all…
We saw one of these guys while in Las Vegas; it was SO cool to see him work. From up close it looked just odd but at the right distance it was amazing!!!
(by the way, I like your drawing too!)
Oh that is beautiful Aiyana and I create sidewalk chalk art several times throughout the week.
Thanks Hannah. I am glad I can at least impress the kids - they won’t realize how bad it is until they’re older and then I won’t care. LOL.
Merri - that must have been sooo interesting to see in person. It is so strange that they know to draw them like that so it will look 3-D at the right angle. Amazing!
Opal, part of the fun of having a child MUST be that you still get to do some childlike fun things, right? I bet you two girls have a blast together! Have you ever played with salt dough? That is a lot of fun too. Good winter activity when you’re stuck inside.
I’m saving the salt dough Aiyana was definitely not interested. Ha! I was childlike well before Aiyana came along but she is a suitable cover. I’m looking forward to Chuck E. Cheese we’ll be going there this morning. Whee!
LOL. Opal, you always make me laugh/smile. Hugs to you my fellow child-in-an-adult-body friend!
Aw, I drew my curtains the same way, on paper and in real life, hehe
That link…unbelievably fantastic artists…some trippy stuff! Gotta luv the “Politicians Meeting Their End” lol
