How to Shop for a Gift for a Plant Baby-Baby Shower

Posted on August 26, 2007 - Filed Under Instructional/How To, Virtual/Blog Party

…or any other parties I may throw in the future.

With only one week left before my plant baby - baby shower, I don’t want anyone feeling like they can’t come to my parties so I am making this little instructional post to make it easy for those of you who have never done this before. These instructions will show you how to get a “gift” image without using a camera or photo/graphic of your own.

  1. Find a free image site such as www.morguefile.com. Go there.
  2. Locate an image that is relevant to the party theme. They are usually displayed as small thumbnails.
  3. When you have found one you think you like, click it to make it bigger.
  4. Now right-click on the image and choose View Image from the menu. The image should now be the only thing on the screen.
  5. Go to the address bar at the top of the page and highlight the entire address - yes, the line that begins with http://.
  6. Once the address is highlighted, right click again and choose Copy from the menu. Now you have the image address in your clipboard memory.
  7. Send me a comment or an email - once in the comment or email, just right click again and choose Paste from the menu and it should paste the address of your image so I can retrieve the “gift.”

Another method works if you have multiple windows open:

In one window, have your blog with the comments or email area open and ready to receive the text you will put in it. The other window has the image from step 4 above.

It’s really quite simple. Another instance of “If I can do it, anyone can!” These instructions will work in most cases. Some cases where they won’t work are if you are using some operating system other than windows (it might be a similar but not exactly the same process) and if the images are protected, which is why I recommend going to a free image site, where none of us will incur the wrath of the copyright protection police. If you do use a free image site, you might want to drop the owner of the image a little note letting them know you used their file. They are usually very nice people and although they don’t require it, it is a nice thing to do and who knows? They could become regular readers of your blog!

So, now you really have to be creative to have an excuse not to attend a party! ;) Can’t say I didn’t try, anyway! By the way, I still need someone to bring chips and dip!

[…] Gaining entrance to this party is simple. All you need to do is bring an image of some tea, a tea accessory, a tea condiment, a tea cup, a tea set; well, you get the idea. It can be your own photo, your own graphic design, or a photo from a free photo sharing site (no copyrighted images, please - let’s keep it legal and respect the creative license of others) . Also, it must be a family friendly image and somehow related to tea. That’s it! It’s kind of like a virtual scavenger hunt. If you don’t know how to get an image - see my post on how to shop for a plant baby - baby shower here. […]
