Krinkle Sticks

I got to try these recently. What are they? Glad you asked. They are the answer to my snack problems. I love potato chips but just can’t allow myself to eat them much anymore with all the fat they have in them. Of course, I also loved BBQ flavored and the salt and vinegar artificially flavored ones which have so much junk in them plus dairy so I had to give those up also.

But now there are Krinkle Sticks - the bent, baked and seasoned potato snacks put out by Lesser Evil. In each container there are two and a half servings. A serving size is a cup, which is a good snack size. They have 2.5g gat in a serving and only 2g sugar + 2 fiber, no trans or saturated fats. Sounds good, right? Well, they can’t claim to have any real nutritional value, but they don’t have anything bad in them, they are gluten free and preservative/artifical flavor free, and they appear to be vegetarian and vegan as well.

So, how do they taste? Well, texture-wise, think cheesy puffs. They are light and airy and coated with tasty seasonings. So, quite like a cheesy puff but only made out of potato! They also come in a neat shaped container, which caught my eye. It is shaped like an old theater popcorn container. These are a winner! And with flavors like Old School BBQ, Classic Sea Salt, Sour Cream and Onion, and Cajun Kaboom there’s something for everyone. For those that like their chips slightly sweet, there are flavors like Classic Kettle Corn, SinNamon, and Peanut Butter & Choco to choose from, as well as others.

I haven’t tried them all but I can vouch for you that the Old School BBQ is quite snack-worthy. Yum. :)
It looks like for a few more days (this month’s promo at their site) you can send a personalized 4-pack to someone! More info on these snacks here.

They sound nice! Pity we can’t get much American stuff down here :-(
I need to start checking on line for that info - I’m sorry I didn’t remember to do it this time, Hannah. I always feel like I’m the last to find stuff like this so I always figure you guys probably already have been eating it for months before I see it! LOL. But I will try to start posting where things are available and stuff - thanks for the reminder. I certainly didn’t mean to slight my off-continent friends!

As an aside - I just did a little more research at their site and it looks like they are a small company starting out in New York City and they are looking for distributors and resellers, planning to make it available to everyone. So if they do well, you may be able to find them soon.

That does sound good….potato chips are evil, but I can’t help but eat the buggers.

Are the sour cream ones vegan too?

Sadly, I think not. However their site does specifically mention that the peanut butter chocolate ones ARE! As with any food, especially those that come in multiple flavors, I’d suggest reading the ingredients first!
