Teeni’s Trivia - Slot Machines Answer

The first gambling machine to really catch on was one introduced by the Mills Novelty Company in 1910. There were earlier machines going as far back as the 1890’s, but this one was actually a chewing gum vending machine. The machine dispensed cherry, orange, or plum flavored gum, depending on which fruits appeared randomly on the three spinning wheels. If three “1910 Fruit Gum” bars appeared, it would dispense extra gum. If a lemon appeared, it wouldn’t dispense any gum - this is also why a “lemon” came to mean something unsatisfactory or defective. These machines became so popular that the company converted them to cash payouts and that, loyal readers, is why those fruit symbols that survive to this day, are on so many one-armed bandits! Ta-daaaaah! You learned a couple things today and it didn’t even hurt!

You can read for as long or as short as you’d like - perfect takealong book when you don’t know how long you’ll be waiting. Although they are called Bathroom Readers, I read mine in bed. LOL. They make reading facts fun!

Well, that is great that you’ll be going to Vegas! I’ve never been. TGH and I don’t have any big plans this weekend except for a small family BBQ at his mom’s. We really do need to plan a trip though. We are ready for a vacation! I hope you can stump your friends with this trivia. You’ll have to let me know if you do.
Neato! I love facts like these… I’ll have to find me some of those books. My problem is that my memory is horrid so I read them and then promptly forget them.
I guess that would mean I could read the book over and over again and it would all seem new…..
Or that I have the early stages of Alzhiemer’s at age 33.

I have to stick to the general ones because the only sport that interests me enough to read about would be hockey.
