Dear Stupid Itchy-Trigger-Finger Hornblower

(I apologize in advance for this post because it is really not for my readers’ enjoyment as much as it is for my own venting purposes. I’m only doing it because I’m pretending that the dumb@ss who it is directed at might read it someday - even if they don’t it will still make me feel better to write.)
Okay, I am a responsible driver. I’ve been driving for many years without causing any accidents. The only accidents I’ve ever been in were caused by the other party while I was stopped at a traffic light or stop sign. So I know the rules of the road pretty much. Except for the one you just made up for me.
For some reason you think there is a new rule that empowers me with ESP. So much so that I could tell that a school bus in the opposite oncoming lane would be coming up the hill (I couldn’t see over the hill) and stopping right at the top as soon as they got there. I’m sorry but even if I had those special precognitive powers, I would not have stopped on a dime and risked causing an accident.
So I kept going and passed the bus. And you leaned on your horn. Did you think that was going to make me stop? You see, many thoughts flashed through my head at that instant and one was knowing the bus driver still had to come to a complete stop, extend the stop sign all the way and make sure it was safe before opening the door to let any children out. The school bus driver would have known that people coming from the opposite direction can’t see the bus coming over the hill, even less know it is going to stop as soon as it reaches the top. And no matter how quickly and furiously those little hazard lights blink, they don’t count if you can’t see them over a hill. It also crossed my mind that I didn’t have time to check my rearview to make sure it was safe to stop. So, all things considered, I think I did the safest thing and would handle it the same way if I had to do it over again. I also don’t believe that any officers of the law would have found fault with me for handling the situation that way.
Horns should not be used because you think I did something wrong or you think you could have done better. They are for alerting someone of imminent danger. There was none in this case as all the children were still safely on the bus. Some people just need to chill out and not take their anger and stress out on innocent automobile mechanisms (or other drivers).
Okay, that’s really all I have to say about that. Oh yeah, and I hope your car alarm continuously goes off in the middle of the night, waking you up repeatedly. I may as well be honest about that.
I feel better now. Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
Teeni

Oh dear, I’m sorry to hear about your near miss. Totally not your fault though, and I hope you’re not too shaken by it all. Some drivers (like that one who expected you to have ESP) just have no brains!!
Thanks, Hannah. I’m okay - it just gets me all fired up when I get horn-blasted unfairly!
Hannah, I don’t think it was a near miss at all. Teeni, you did the right thing, because slamming on the brakes could have done more harm than good.
Besides, the bus driver more than likely knew that you weren’t going to stop. They are more concerned about the traffic coming up in the distance and not stopping while the children are exiting the bus. Or somebody passing from behind.
Even if you did stop, you’re right about the stop arm, the driver probably would have waved you through.
MOST bust drivers arent idiots, they’ve been doing that for awhile and they don’t expect oncoming traffic that’s just a few feet away to slam on their brakes.
Now what you should have done was, after passing the bus, pull over to the side of the road, let that asshole pass you, and then follow them all the way home so you know where they live, and then return in the night and set off their car alarm all night long. :p
LOL. Macbros, you crack me up - but thank you for the supportive words. I needed that!
I’m becoming very afraid of MacBros.
You did the right thing. Slamming on your breaks like that could have caused more problems especially if someone was right behind you. There is a thing that we all should have. I think it’s called <b<common sense. We use it in situations like this.
Nope I hope no officer would have found fault with you unless they were so person on a power trip.
I love reading the interactions between you and Macbros. It is so much fun. And than you, too, Opal for understanding the position I was in.
I think you did the right thing
It would have been more dangerous had you stoppped
Hope you are well today?
I am still in loads of pain but,I am going to go out with my boyfriend later and will blog about it thanks for stopping by my site

Thanks yeah please do I would appreciate it.I would still do it even if i couldnt move the posts.
@kaylee,
You can move your posts from Blogger. I helped a former coworker of mine move. It’s fairly easy. If you have questions you can shoot me an email. I’ve helped a few real life buddies and some online buddies make the transition.
Here’s a tutorial…
