A Teeni Poem - Parents

Posted on September 28, 2007 - Filed Under Teeni Poem

Did I blink and somehow miss it?
You were always there to kiss it
and to make things right
whenever I had a scary night.

“Yes,” I could crawl in to sleep with you
’cause that’s just what good parents do.

The things you accomplished when I went out to play,
I knew not then, but I can imagine today.

You provided me a childhood without a care in the world,
and now life comes at me - so fast, as if hurled
by some impatient and invisible force.
Would I do it all over?
You betcha, of course!

Some things I would change and some I’d keep the same,
you’d still be my parents - that would remain!

When exactly did these things change
and suddenly become rearranged?

Our roles are shifting, so are the things we do
and now I want to look out for you!

When did your youth get stolen away?
It seems you were my age just yesterday.

Wow, neat poem! Is this your penmanship?? If so, I’m very impressed!

Yes, Hannah, it’s my work. It’s very rough. I don’t consider poetry one of my skills but every so often I’m inspired to write a little something and I think my parents’ move got my mind wandering. ;)

I really love this poem. My dad still seems the same age even though he is 69. Although he is older he still works out several times a week and is in better shape than people half his age. I want to be him when I “grow up”. ;-)
Thank you, Opal. I’m glad you like it. Hey if you want to be like your dad, you’ll just have to start emulating him now (which I think you already do), because you and I are never growing up, dear! ;)

That is beautiful Teeni! A woman of many talents, you are.

Thanks, Kami! What a nice thing to say! **blushes**

I’m fine today Kaylee - I’m actually happy - there have been a lot of nice little things going on that I am preparing to post about in the next day or so. I hope you are feeling better today. How’s the pain level? And what is the weather like where you are right now?

I am great today…not much pain at all :P I have had another fun day today so far :)
The weather? its actually getting down to the 80’s now which I love :P
That is awesome news! Yay! OOOOOooo - it’s getting cooler - that is good! Of course, we’ll expect you to post about your fun day on your blog again when you get a chance so we can read about it! It’s getting cooler here too but today was only about 72 - so nice Fall weather already. It’s sunny and perfect! ;)

yes i will post about it later tonight probably….it wasnt with Nick though haha had to let the aunt take me and the cousin out today LOL! ;)
80 degrees in the fall is better here then the 100-115+ degree weather we see here in the summer :P
Even I have to agree that 80 is better than 100-115+. Yeup - I’ll take 80s any day over that. ;)

hey were you suggesting on my blog that i am weird??????

YOU said you were weird for having a pic of Jason Veritek’s butt. I was just agreeing with you and saying it was okay because you are a teenager. So yeah. LOL

    Nice poem teeni!
I am impressed, you are so talented!
    (but I am NOT surprised..lol!)
My mom is 93,and upon seeing her today, looking so vital and healthy, I am proud and happy.
She is active and interested in everything…
(that mind is rapier sharp too…so one has to WATCH OUT..lol)

Wow, Merri - she really is blessed to still be so vital and healthy at 93. But I’m glad and hope you get to look forward to at least that many years of health and vitality as well! ;)
