Thankful Tag

Posted on September 28, 2007 - Filed Under Meme

Heather at Drawing on the Walls has tagged me for a meme. This one is pretty neat. The purpose is to list 6-8 things I’m thankful for then tag 8 others to list what they’re thankful for. I think this is a great thing to do anyway and I had been thinking of preparing a post on the subject (which I will post in the future) but for now this will be fun to do! Thanks for tagging me Heather (view Heather’s list here) and for considering me one of the people that you want to know more about! ;) I’m very flattered. Now without further ado, here are the things I am thankful for at the moment:

  1. Family - Although at times they can drive me batty, I do love them and am thankful for the family that I have with me in my life journey. They’re weird and give me gray hair but it’s better than being alone. ;)
  2. My husband - I’m very thankful to have found someone who appreciates me, considers me intelligent, sexy, and warm, who puts my desires before any televised sporting event and who is able to let me know when I’m being a doofus without making me feel like I’m being a doofus. Because of him, I’ve been able to learn more about myself and try to work on the things I don’t like yet still feel like a valuable human being.
  3. Friends - These guys help me deal with things in my world a lot easier (yes, this includes you all, my online bloggy buddies) and I’m so thankful that I was born when I was so that I was able to meet the friends I’ve met. I mean, if I had been born too early I’d probably just have a bunch of cavemen for friends. That wouldn’t be fun. And if I were born in the future then I’d probably just have a bunch of cyborgs or something for friends. That wouldn’t be any fun either. Cuz you guys are where it’s at. ;)
  4. Time - Heather had put “eternity” as one of the things she was thankful for in her meme and I’d like to echo that sentiment here. It took me a while to get here, but I’m mature (not OLD) enough to realize that time is a wonderful gift and I really appreciate it now. I don’t want to waste any more of it like I did when I was younger and foolish(er). ;)
  5. Laughter - What would we do without this? It makes dealing with stress more bearable, keeps us healthy, and is fun to boot! This is why little girls will get together and extend a giggling fit as much as possible. And some of us adults do it too!
  6. Change - This may sound weird but you’ll probably agree with me after reading all of it. Sometimes you or someone you love can end up in a bad or unhealthy situation. So the good thing is that it can change! When you hear someone say “change is good,” take it to heart because sometime you may be looking for it and will be thankful when it comes your way.
  7. The Icing on the Cake - What this means is all the stuff I was blessed with that I didn’t NEED to survive but that make my existence all that much more pleasant and that unfortunately not all people possess. Some of these things are my senses, having full capacity of my body, having full (well that may be arguable, LOL) capacity of my mind, being free of physical pain, hunger, and cold. And other things like having the ability to appreciate beauty in the many forms in which it exists.

I now would like to tag the following people to do this meme (I’m only tagging 5 people because I just tagged a bunch of people for a previous meme and don’t want to have to re-tag them):

Kami - Now that your plane riding is over for a bit, let’s get you focused on some good stuff. LOL.

Kaylee - Get yourself busy girl - this should keep you from polluting my comments page for a few minutes. LOL. But seriously, I’d like to see what you are thankful for since you are so young. It would be nice to see your side of things.

Jen - I don’t think I’ve tagged you before and I’d love to see your thoughts on this. A rare view into your creative and crafty mind would be awesome. :)
Kat- What are you thankful for, besides that newest of your little IPod gadgets?

Laura - I HAVE to tag you Laura, because whenever I get the opportunity to make you write, I need to take advantage of it because I love reading everything you write. I mean, you could write about a doorknob and make it interesting. I don’t know how you do it, but you have a great talent! ;)

Great list!! I’ve done mine and tagged Kami too so does she have to list 12-16 things? LOL.

I like that you have “laughter” on your list … I agree completely, sometimes if you don’t laugh about things, you’d cry! And I don’t know about everybody else, but I prefer laughing :-)
Oops - I am just reading this comment now and didn’t realize you had already tagged Kami. Obviously I only paid attention to the thankful part of your post and not the tagging part. d’uh. Um, well, I don’t think we should punish her for MY mistake. ;) LOL

Hee hee! Me, tagged twice, how cool! I may just have to do a longer list because of that. I assure you that I can think of at least that many things to be thankful for!

Yay for lists like this and Teeni, it was fun to learn more about you. Laughter is key to happiness:-)

I’ve got work to do! Post coming soon ;-)
I’m sorry Kami - I overlooked the fact that Hannah already tagged you. But as long as you are doing it that’s all I care about. Of course if you WANT to do more, we won’t stop you. We’d still be happy to read it ;)

  7. hrsj (105 comments.) on September 28th, 2007 8:58 pm

I appreciate your laughter one; I know when I get super-stressed or cranky, what sometimes finally “breaks” me is laughter… and then the world seems bearable again! And I like your perspective on change; there are times when change is desirable. Thank you for playing and sharing your creative thoughts on thankfulness! big HUG to you teeni!

Thanks, Heather - it always is neat to get little glimpses into people’s lives. Thanks for tagging me. It is good to be forced to think of these things at times. Helps keep us focused. ;)

//Can you take something for the pain?//

Yeah I can but no sure how much it will help!!!!!!!!!! but its worth a try!

Yes, it’s worth the try. After all, that’s what medication is for - so we don’t have to be in unnecessary pain.

  9. Kaylee (40 comments.) on September 28th, 2007 9:24 pm

Yes very true!!!!!! I took some of the medication for my heart that wont help the breathing much but I can deal with some pain

A little pain is better than a lot. I hope the meds help, Kaylee. I’m working on something right now or else I’d come chat with you.

I SO think i am gunna faint!!!!!!!!!!

You should tell your dad so he can be prepared to take you to the ER if you need it. Or if he is not home then you should probably lay down after calling the neighbor to come over.

  12. Kaylee (40 comments.) on September 28th, 2007 10:55 pm
