Suspicious Meme
Posted on December 4, 2007 - Filed Under Meme
My little Diva has tagged me for the Suspicious Meme. She actually tagged me a while ago and I’m just slow in getting them done lately so they are getting all backed up. I do apologize for this.
Anyway, I LOVE this interpretation of the rules so I copied and pasted from the Diva.
The Rules:
- Write a list of things of which you are suspicious. Any number of them will do. Even the number 0 works. This is the first meme that can be done without even doing it. In fact, you’re doing it right now.
- Include the list of rules, if you feel like it.
- Link back to the person who tagged you. Or not.
- Tag however many people you want to tag. You can skip this step.
- If you acted on rule four, leave comments on their websites to let them know that they have been tagged. This step is also completely optional.
- Feel fantastic.
So here are some things that make me suspicious.
- When someone awards me with a llama.
- When someone in a restaurant (other than my server) comes over and asks how my meal is. What do they know that I don’t know about my food?
- When my cats won’t eat the tuna fish that is leftover from my sandwich. Again, what do they know that I don’t know about my food?
- When my sister (who last called me a vile name when we spoke weeks ago) calls me out of the blue. Hmmm - last I knew we weren’t speaking so what could she be calling me for now - to call me another name?
- Natural Flavorings - Well if they are so natural why can’t you say what they are? What’re you afraid of? Because not all natural things are good to eat - could that be it? Poisonous mushrooms are natural. But you don’t see those listed in any ingredients. So is that what they are hiding? Hmmm.
- Elevator Inspection Certificates - You are in an elevator by yourself so of course you are going to go check that little box thing where there is supposed to be a certificate saying the elevator has been checked out and is safe to ride. But instead, it says the certificate is on file at the management office or some other not-inside-the-elevator-place where you could see it for yourself. That makes me nervous and wonder how long it’s been since the elevator was checked and what the results were.
- My country’s import system. With all the negative things to have come out of imports lately it makes me wonder what the heck kind of testing and rules do we have in place? They need to be better.
- Built-in gratuities. Do they think so highly of themselves/their service that they have the right to decide how much of a tip I’ll leave? What makes them think I’ll be entirely satisfied with their service/product? Why do they think it is okay to set a standard for something that is voluntarily given? Should I be concerned that they feel the need to do this? Fortunately, I’ve always been pleased with the service/product I’ve had that included a built-in gratuity, but I still don’t like someone telling me how much I should leave.
- Phone bills. Period. I have had questions on fees and charges on almost every phone bill I’ve ever looked at, including land lines and cell phones. Sometimes I just don’t look at them to save me some aggravation. If I sit long enough and try to figure them out I can usually come to some understanding of them but lots of times it requires way too much time and also a call to customer service to find out what such-and-such charge is and what happened on this day and etc., etc. Why can’t they just be easy to understand? Paying for something you understand makes you feel a heck of a lot better than blindly forking over money when you don’t know what all those charges are for.
- Speaking of phone bills - funny little clicks and sounds on the line when I’m talking to someone on the phone make me suspicious. Is someone listening in? Do I need to create my own secret language so I can call my mom and see how she’s doing without having the government know about it? I usually just say, “I’ll call you back from another phone - this one’s apparently been compromised.”
Okay - I’d now like to pass this meme on to my new friend CowgalUtah, who seems to like doing memes. I know you just did a bunch of them so feel free to put this aside for a little bit if you must, Cowgal! I’d also like to pass this on to my old friend (not old in age, sillies, old as in one of my oldest blogging pals), Hannah, to see what, if anything, she is suspicious of. And finally, I’d like to see what Kami would come up with on this meme. Her posts always make me smile or laugh and I bet this will be no exception.

Oh boy Teeni, the pressure!

I’ll have to think on it for a bit. But I am positive I can come up with something!
Great list. Now you have me thinking about those phone clicks. Is the Man watching me?
I’ll stick it to him yet!
LOL. That’s my girl, Kami!
Ooh, love this one!! I’ll definitely have to get my thinking cap on now!
I enjoyed reading your list, Teeni. I can relate to a few of those myself, but I’ll be sure not to “steal” any of yours for my list!
The phone clicks are definitely suspicious! Ooh, I just thought of a *variation* of that one so I’ll include it in mine.
Awesome - I can’t wait to see what you come up with! You are always thinking and provide a lot of food for thought so I knew this would be a good one for you!
I’m a little suspicious of you calling me out on this meme…no just kidden!
I’ll have to check out Hannah and Kami as well, cause they have got to be just as fun as you from the comments I have seen around here!
Hi Cowgal - yes, all my friends are both fun and very nice. And I’m willing to share them with you (so long as you don’t go stealing them away from me - I’m very protective of my buddies, ya know! LOL. But you are one now too so I think you’re safe!)
great meme love the first one hehe`
Speaking of memes, I do believe you owe me one, Ms. Kaylee! Weren’t you going to do the 100 meter photoshow meme?
Yes, teeni,I was and will hopefully have it up today :p
Cool!
Well this wad a fun idea! I don’t think I am suspicious of much though, except credit card fees & interest.
Oooh, interest always makes me wonder. How come when we are being CHARGED interest it is so much, but when we EARN interest it is a mere pittance? Hmmmm.
I love your answers, very creative. I’m getting more and more suspicious with every one of these that I read…
Hehe. Sorry, Paige. Soon, everyone will be looking over their shoulders and second guessing everything! BOO! LOL
well, you had me laughing out loud! I think I would question most of those things as well! Hey, are you looking at me? *~*
LOL.
people in Airports make me suspicious especially the foreigners!
That seems funny coming from you because you have friends from all over the world visit your blog.
Phone billlls! Yes! You are sooo right.
And you know what .. my bill is always diffferent, within a few cents to a few dollars every month, but I dont do anything different from month to month, but it varies .. and why? I dont know ..! And I’d hate to call about it to find out. I just figger, when I look at the bill, if it’s kinda sorta around what it usually is, I’ll pay it. I stopped looking at ‘em a long time ago.
And what is it with your cats .. and not eating tuna? Have they gone mad? That Jam and Toast, silly little creatures.
See? Those little differences of a few cents to a dollar a month do drive me insane at times. Why should it be different when you’ve done nothing different? That’s why I used to scrutinize the bill. But for my own mental health I don’t do it much anymore. I just hand the billto TGH when it comes in now. Saves me a lot of gray hair.
Teeni,
Loved number 5. I too have been suspicious of natural flavorings. I mean, heck, dirt is natural and so are bugs.
And why didn’t you tag me on this?Hmmmmm?
Well fine, I’ll just do it anyway.
WC
Awww, WC, I would have tagged you if I’d known. I was kind of not sure to tag anyone one from your circle because Ms. Shooz made it clear that she is not one to be tagged and I didn’t know how you felt about it. I guess I should have known by your fun personality, but I didn’t want to cross any lines, ya know? But now that I know you are game, Muhahahaha! We’ll have some fun now!
Okay its up teeni…sorry it was so late.I am slow
Okay, going to check it out.
I am generally not a suspicious person but my husband worries that I watch so many forensic science programs and crime dramas.
That reminds me of when I started making my own soap. TGH wondered why I needed to have lye in the house - he thought I was going to use it to make the evidence (his body and bones) disappear! LOL. So maybe your hubby has the same kind of worries? LOL
[…] residence at the house of meme. This one I was actually tagged for by that sweetheart over at the tearoom. (That Ms. Teeni is a hoot… you should check her out if you haven’t already.)So here […]
hm…. excellent list. i agree with paige, though… i am becoming increasingly suspicious with each meme i read.
thanks for playing, you’re always such a great sport.
at first, i typed sprot, but then i corrected it. looking back, you’re probably a good sprot too.
I’d like to think I’m a good sprot. And also a good sprout. And a sport too.
Thanks for letting me fool you into believing it too! LOL And yes, I’m becoming paranoid reading all of these things as well. -Eeep!

You wild and crazy guy! This is a neat meme and I will do it as soon as I catch up on another one I owe. Thanks for thinking of me, buddy!
I’ve done mine!!! Thanks!
