Life is Sweet

Posted on December 14, 2007 - Filed Under Uncategorized

I had a wonderful surprise today!

I overslept (as usual) and the cats were not doing their jobs as good watch-cats. Normally if someone were to come to our side door and leave a package, the cats would go bananas and I’d know someone who is not normally out there was out there. But they didn’t act freaky at all this time. So when I got up and checked out the side door to see the snow, I noticed a box outside the door from UPS. Scolding the cats for not warning me of a package, I brought the box into the dining room and cut it open with a good pair of scissors.

I saw the return address and immediately knew it was from the mom of one of my best bloggy buddies (they know who they are). And I kind of had an idea of what was inside but I still couldn’t believe she would go through the trouble of doing what she did. Here is what I found inside the box.

tintop

I apologize for the glare - I don’t know how to turn my own camera flash off. Anyway, the point is not what a bad photographer I am but what a cool tin this is. Take a look at the detail on the sides:

Pretty little detailed snowflakes, huh? And the best part? Look what was on the INside of the tin:

See those lovely jam filled ones on the lower left? I had already eaten a layer of them before getting my pictures taken. I just couldn’t wait - they were so beautiful (and SOOO delicious, I might add). There are even enough here that I can share a couple with TGH (if he’s good, that is).

Oh, today was a beautiful day. :)
Thank you. :)
So very much. :)

Mmmm, how nice a gift! I adore the tin, being snowman crazed myself :-)
And I also am cookie crazed… well anything sweet and homebaked really ;-)
These cookies look so professional too. Some people are just so good at that. But they taste so yummy, buttery and homemade.

Oh yummy!! Im hungry! LOL What a thoughtful gift and wonderful surprise! See, the cats new it ws food, so they were ok with it! LOL

Oh, I think so too, Calamity - isn’t it funny how they behave sometimes? Just when I think I know how they are going to react they teach me something new about them. That’s why I could never be bored with them as pets. And the cookies ARE fantastic. There are still some left but I don’t think they’re going to last much longer. Good thing I took pictures to prove it! ;)

Those remind me of my mom’s homemade cookies…delicious! I have made a few but this year I doubt I bake much but might at least do some sour cream crescents.

    You…up late?

OOoh, sour cream crescents sound delicious too. Me, up late? HA! Like THAT ever happens!

Thats looks yummy. The cookies look wonderful but,I prefer my pumpkin rolls LOL!

I like pumpkin rolls too, Kaylee. But actually I’m glad she didn’t send me any of those because I don’t think you’d want to ship anything that contained cream cheese - it could go bad in shipment. Yikes. And I’m just happy that someone thought of me!!! :)

    ohhh how nice!!!
I would have gobbled the whole tin ..lol.
    What a nice treat!
(Maybe the kitties were simply letting you sleep in…they CAN be considerate creatures! :D
That is true, Merri. Sometimes they can sense when I am not feeling well and come snuggle up with me. I love those days. Oh, and I love your new icon as well! :)

Those few pounds I recently lost? Well dangit, they’re back just by looking at that pic!

Sorry about that. If it makes you feel any better, I gained a couple back too. And they were delicious! But I’m going to start checking in at your weight loss tab and try and work on losing some weight myself.
