My Wish for You Today and Every Day

Posted on December 25, 2007 - Filed Under Teeni Poem

Here are some things that I find comfort in and I wish the same for each of you, my blogging buddies.

A Chair That Fits

On this Christmas, here’s my wish list;

for each of my friends, a chair that fits.

One you can sit way back in,

(it shouldn’t be hard to get out of again)

It should support you when you’re sore.

and your feet should still reach the floor.

A chair seems like such a simple material gift,

but we all need a place where we feel we fit,

and to know that even when no one else is home

we really, truly are not alone.

In this cozy chair you should dream and see

all the things you want to be,

and plan wondrous events to look forward to

of people to see and things to do.

You could put your feet up and experience

a movie, some music, or a book by chance,

Or a phone call from a loved one afar,

you could go places unreachable by car.

My wish doesn’t end there, it continues to grow

there are many things more I wish for you to know

like food and family and friends to share

The warmth of a hug and a person who cares.

For each of us, some comfort and a lack of need

for those of us enslaved to please be freed

I wished all these things and even more

from the bottom of my very core.

And now that the day is through,

I’d like you to know that I thought of you!

But I wished these things not just for today,

but for ever more and I’d just like to say

thank you for being such special friends

I also wish you peace and love that never ends.

And now that you’ve managed to read all the way through yet another of my “so bad they’re almost good” poems, I really do want to share some beauty with you. Please check out my friend Beth Ellen’s post, featuring one of her amazing pieces of art that truly blew me away. I think it speaks to anyone who has had health issues and even if you haven’t, it is certainly a wondrous piece to behold.

Oh, it was a lovely holiday. LOL. I ended up getting a bit of a stomach bug Christmas night though. Just my luck. LOL. I’m starting to feel better now after resting all day today. I am looking forward to visiting you all and seeing how your day went.

Beautiful Teeni and you are right, everyone needs a “chair”, it’s a symbol of belonging and security. I hope you and TGH had a wonderful holiday season.

    Merry Christmas friend!
    :-)

Well, thanks! I never thought of myself as a poet but I will say that I do have a lot of fun writing these and letting some of my feelings out.

Aw, I love this. And I have such a chair. I saved it from the dump. It’s a huge ol’ leather easy chair that I can curl up in with both the huge cat and the little dog. I love it.

This was so beautfiul, I felt all warm and cozy reading it, and I’m not even sitting in a special chair (not yet anyway, but it’s time to get one ;-) )….

Thanks, Romi! It’s a great time to get one - everyone needs one and it doesn’t have to be pretty - think Edith and Archie Bunker! LOL
