Precious Gifts
Posted on December 28, 2007 - Filed Under Thank You
We had quite an interesting holiday here at the Vaguetarian Tea Room. We spent Sunday evening having dinner with and opening gifts with TGH’s family. This worked out well since TGH ended up with a stomach bug on Christmas Eve and pretty much slept the day through on his day off. Fortunately it was only a 12-24 hour thing and he was back to himself for Christmas which we spent with my family. The day after Christmas, my darling hubby gave to me a wonderful 12-24 hour type stomach bug thing! So I slept through most of THAT day which he had off. So with all the time off it didn’t seem like we got much quality time together. Luckily, he has additional time that he can take and we spent some of this evening and will spend some of tomorrow doing fun things. I hope you all had a healthier holiday than we did! ![]()
Now, I have to just share with you all these beautiful handmade items I received over the holidays from fellow bloggy buddies.
I don’t want to embarrass my friends so I won’t be mentioning any names but they know who they are.
Anyway, first I have to make special note of the wrapping on some of them. Take a gander at this:

Now, dear bloggy buddy - if you only knew my history with greenbar paper from my programming days. This really gave me a chuckle and made me so happy to see. In fact, I have used it myself in the past as wrapping paper so I was tickled to see you use it as well. And I love the kraft paper and string. Nothing feels more homey to me than simple wrapping on packages. I LOVE it!
Okay, well obviously there was more to it than just the wrapping! Look!

A beautiful photograph, a handmade ornament and handmade cards and tags! These are just so special to me because they were all made by hand and are so beautiful. I wouldn’t think to use them to put on someone else’s package or send to anyone. I hope that doesn’t make me too selfish a person. But I’m keeping these babies for myself! ![]()
And that’s not ALL. I was very spoiled and look what else I got from another fellow bloggy buddy!

Another beautiful handcrafted card (in my two favorite colors, no less) with the most amazing little piece of lemon cake that I never tasted/ever saw! LOL. I just adore this hand sewn cake with it’s beautiful fluted frosting and lemon wedge even though at times when I eye it, I can start to get hungry.
I have also received some wonderful written words on beautiful cards and things but I am keeping those words for myself as well! However, I did need to show you what I could because I truly have some of the most talented bloggy buddies around! I am actually thinking of starting a collage type of thing with all my mementos from my bloggy buddies on it and that is why I haven’t yet found the perfect frame for my artwork from the Diva. Maybe it will become the Great Wall of Teeni. LOL. I just know that when I gaze upon it, I will feel the love of all my online friends. ![]()
I also want to recognize my peeps who just sent well-wishes my way, whether in writing or just in thought. Thank you all for your gifts of friendship which mean more to me than anything! You are all precious to me.
And just to keep it real so you all know that it is not cotton candy and blue skies all the time over at the Tea Room, I must tell you that we get our share of bad here too. For instance, remember that wonderful tin of cookies I got not so long ago? Well, just look at this! ![]()

WOW! Great pics!
I wanted to let you know I am blogging on my facebook page now.
Hey there stranger!!!! How the heck are ya? And yes, I noticed you are blogging on facebook - when I was there last night (I think) there was only one post so far. Can I comment there as well? I wasn’t quite sure how it worked over there but I did see that application you had! If I can’t comment there I should still be able to send you a message right?
Hey T-Bone!
It’s nice to see that there really are still kind people out there .. and to know that they’re on your blogroll is even better! You’re lucky Teeni, to have people that care so much about you !
Loved the pictures and the layout .. it’s neat to see everything you got!
Yes, I’m spoiled rotten by all these wonderful people - that’s YOU included of course and I especially thank you for your email when I wasn’t feeling so great. It was nice to know that someone missed me/was looking out for me.
Oh Teeni, I’m so sorry to hear about the stomach bug!! That’s just awful, and not fun to be sick on Christmas. I feel so bad for you! But I am glad that you (and TGH) are feeling better now.
What lovely gifts you received from your blogging friends. I wish I had had time to make gifts and cards for everybody this year, but it was just too hectic. And to post to the US, I would have had to be SUPER organised in advance. I’m glad you received some special packages though. You deserve them!!
Oh, Hannah - I hope you don’t feel bad for not sending anything. It was not my intention to make anyone feel bad that they weren’t able to send anything. I just wanted to share the talents of my buddies with the rest of my buddies, is all. I didn’t send out anything myself and when I started blogging back in May, I never really knew how close I was going to get to you all so I never imagined all of this happening. But anyway, as I did mention, all the well wishes, whether written or just thought in my direction were very much appreciated and I know you send those to me all the time!
But I know what you mean about if you had time you would want to make things for everyone - I wish I could also, but I realize I’m restricted by budget/time/and some of the talent that my buddies were blessed with. So they’ll just have to settle for my poems for now.
If they keep coming around then I’ll know for sure that they are true friends and I’m sure I’ll get to recognize them somehow someday!
That is very nice of them.I love some of those gifts.I got alot of homemade gifts this year too.Lots of handmade jewelry
Ooooh. Homemade jewelry is very nice. Sounds like you made out pretty well!
Aw Teens,
How great - those really are very groovy and cool things. Sorry about the tummy aches alll around - at least you still have more time to spend together.
Ain’t life grand?
Annie
Thanks, Annie. And yes, I’m glad we still have some time to spend together. And today is a beautiful sunny day so far!
Oh man, it seems like lots of people had the same stomach bug around the holidays. We have thus far avoided it but I think our time may be running out.
What wonderful buddies you have, the homemade things are the best aren’t they?
Well, I sure don’t wish that stomach bug on anyone. It’s funny cuz I thought I was going to get through without getting it and then it got me right after the festivities! LOL At least it wasn’t something worse and was over with quickly. And yes, those gifts were so thoughtfully and carefully made. I just love ‘em!
what lovely gifts! I am not at all surprised, you are just such a sweet and wonderful person people want to do nice things for you!! I am sorry about the tummy bug thing. Im glad youa re both feeling better!!
Aww, you always say such nice things. Keep it up and you might end up convincing me! LOL. Thanks for the well wishes and kind words, Calamity. You’re a good friend.
You have too many friends. I think you need to cut back some.
Nice gifts… where’s mine?
I’m not sharing these babies with you. See the tag in the top pic? It says “Teeni” on it. That’s me so these are mine, all mine!!! Muhahahaha!
LOL. You can never have too many friends. Acquaintances on the other hand….you can sure have too many of those.
Yes I did there were a few things that I wanted that I did not get but,I cant complain too much.
What wonderful gifts- I’m really glad that you liked mine!
LOVED, not just liked!
Oh I’m sorry you guys were sick, that makes celebrating Christmas not fun. {One year I had bronchitis and spent days sacked out on the couch.} I’m glad you had a short flu bug at least!
A little birdie named Susan mentioned on her blog you stopped in her gallery today!
Oh, LOL. Yes, we did stop in - SURPRISE!!! LOL. What a wonderful and sweet person she is! I’m so glad I finally got to meet her! I’m going to be posting about it tomorrow! Thanks so much for the well wishes!
I liked your lemon cake. That was cool!
I hope you have a wonderful New Year and that your husband is feeling all better too!
Did you ever get a lot of snow!
Thanks - it is so cute, I just love it! And no calories! LOL. Thanks for the well-wishes, Kate. Of course, I wish them right back at ya! And yeah, we do tend to get a bit here. I’m sure not as much as my Canadian friends get but we can come close some years!
Sorry to hear I’m not the only family that had a run in with a stomach bug on Christmas. ugh! I spent Christmas night on the floor of my bathroom. Anyhow, I really like the lemon cake. The person who made it did a great job making it look all professional… when I bake cakes I never get them to look all pretty like that. I try but it’s just not my forte.
Have a great new year!
Wow - you had the bug at the same time as me. Are we cursed or what? LOL. Thankfully it was the short 12-hour type in my case. And yes, she did an awesome job on that felt cake. But she does even better professional work on her real baked goods - check it out on my blogroll - go to BitterSweet link and see all of Hannah’s goodies. She is my buddy who just had her first cookbook published and she’s only 18!!! I’m still wondering where the heck I was when all the talent got passed out. And I’m with you - when I bake cakes, I’m just fortunate if they look like cakes!
BTW…sent you something yesterday and I packed in such a way it will take an hour to open it up. lol
I’ll get you back ya know. I haven’t sent yours yet! Just you wait! LOL. I will keep my eyes peeled for your package!
