Art Isn’t Always Dangerous

Remember the last time TGH tried to get to the Artstream Gallery? We sort of ran into a few roadblocks. But you know I don’t give up easy and we tried it again yesterday. TGH had taken the afternoon off work so we could spend some time together now that we were both over that nasty stomach bug thing. So I made us some hot chocolate and packed it up in our thermal cups to drink on the trip and and we headed out to Rochester, NH.
(Click photo to go to the Artstream Gallery Website)This time, there were no roadblocks! We were able to meet the lovely and talented Susan Schwake and her husband Rainer. And nobody got hurt! TGH and I had a wonderful time viewing all the beautiful works at the gallery. We also really enjoyed conversing with Susan and Rainer, learning how they met, and learning about a wonderful little online game called ISketch.
Now, one of my main reasons for going to the gallery, was because my buddy, Heather, had some of her pieces on exhibit there. So I really thought it would be neat to see her work in person. I’m so glad I had the opportunity - there is so much more to them than meets the eye in photos shown online. I wonder if Heather’s ears were ringing when Susan and I were talking about her? Of course, it was all good talk, so no worries. ![]()
Well, Susan and Rainer were very gracious and Susan and I had a little fun here in front of one of Heather’s paintings. We hit it off well and blew kisses at each other but now that I think of it, we should have blown them to Heather! I’m the short, pudgy one on the right (the pudge is not MY fault - it is the fault of the cookies, I tell you - and my face doesn’t always look that fat - just in pictures and in the mirror - LOL).

Anyway, it was a wonderful time and TGH and I took our gallery owners’ suggestion to try a little Thai restaurant, called Yo’s. It was very declicious and just across the street from the gallery. We both ended up with leftovers to take home. Yum. Oh, and look what else I got to take home from this little excursion. Thanks, TGH! I love you!

The piece on the far left is one of Heather’s!!!! It has some of her pinhole work (hard to see in the photo) and some of her paint and pencil work in it so I love it! The piece in the middle is a glass bowl by the artist Heather Palmer (I don’t have a link for her, but I’m sure more information can be obtained through Susan, so feel free to contact her) - it’s just so pretty, so unique, and so delicate looking. Finally, on the far right is a piece by Susan Schwake herself. It is her lovely little birds (I just adore them) painted onto a page from an old German hymnal. So, I guess it doesn’t have to be a particular date on the calendar to be a little Christmas!

Oh Wow Teeni I love this post for so many reasons!
I’m so happy you and TGH got to go see the show, and especially SAFELY this time & without drama! Your thermos full of hot chocolate sounds like the perfect treat for the trip! I really like your photos of the gallery and of you and Susan. She is soooo great, I’m glad you met!
And wow thank you for buying one of my pieces! I’m thrilled and honored and hope you will like it. And oh yes Susan’s work is fun and inspiring and I really love the glass work you got too!
I like your purple sweater with your sparkly pin.
Blowing kisses to you my buddy! Thank you a hundred times!
Oh, NO - thank YOU!! Because of you I had a wonderful day and met some more fantastic people!
I love you too!
Woot!
Oooh thanks Teeni. I checked out Isketch, looks like another good reason to put off the housework!
LOL. Oops - I didn’t mean to start any bad habits. You didn’t hear about it from me, okay?
Hey Teens,
You don’t look pudgy to me - in fact, you look sort of like Sela Ward to me. I love that bowl, that is just incredible looking, I’ll bet it is so gorgeous in person.
Glad you had a fun, hassle free adventure. I love those kind.
Annie
Wow! Sela Ward? I admit I had to look her up cuz I wasn’t matching the face to the name but she is beautiful so I will definitely take that as a compliment. Hey, you come on over here every day now - I can sure get used to that kind of talk!
And yes, all the pieces really are incredible! I wish I you could all see them in person - well you COULD if you could get to Susan’s gallery. If you can’t do that then she definitely has some great photos at her site and at the gallery’s site as well. LOL. Yes, THIS time it was a fun adventure - not scary at all.
WOOW Those peices are so beutiful…..sounds like you had fun
Thanks, Kaylee. You are correct X2!
such lovely photographs!! and lovely artwork as well!!
Thanks, VeggieGirl! I could get used to doing this type of trip every so often. Just need to get an income so I can afford to.
Oh I am so glad you finally got there! I love the pieces you went home with!!!! I didnt see a pudgy person with a fat face tho?! You look beautiful!
Aw, you are always so kind to me, Calamity! Aren’t those pieces just too cool?
oh goodness teeni. i look a wreck. but it was WONDERFUL to meet you and your DH. really. i hope we can all go to dinner next time. and SO glad you went to Yo’s … they are wonderful friendly good cookin people.
it’s so good for the SNOW days!
thanks for all the nice words, and I just KNOW you will love iSketch.
You look lovely, my dear. You have the kind, happy face that seems familiar to me even though I’d never met you in person before yesterday. You made me feel like we could have been friends for years and still will be friends until the end. That is true beauty. And I would SOOO love to go to dinner with you guys next time. That would be awesome. I already like the iSketch music and have been humming it. LOL.
In the first of you two together I thought you were having a deep philosophical discussion.
That bowl is very interesting.
I like Thai food as long as they leave the shrimp out.
LOL - you always crack me up. I only had veggies - no shrimp at the Thai place. I also learned that a level three hot is about as hot as I want to get. I still want to have tastebuds to be able to taste my food! LOL
Btw you look beautiful……….:)
Thanks, Kaylee.
What no barricades and stand-off with police?
Looks like you had fun, though!
Not THIS time! LOL. It was fun. Oh, you would have enjoyed it, Mike! I think you and Karen would have gotten a kick out of it. It really was a lot of fun.
P.s thank you for getting me addicted to that game
No problem. Teeni is my name and gaming is my game. heh.
LOL but I cant even draw a picture for the word flood dang!
I am so glad you finally got there!! What beautiful pieces of art. Heather’s art is lovely so you would have been guaranteed some good artwork, and it looks like there were other great pieces too. I think it’s great that you hit it off with Susan!
And I am most impressed and delighted to see a photo of you!! You are NOT chubby, either! You’re beautiful … just as I knew you would be
Aww, you are just such a sweet friend and that’s why I love you. I hope TGH and I get to visit NZ sometime. I really would love to. Funny, I used to be so afraid to get on a plane, but now I really would like to do some travelling and see other parts of the world. Of course, you know I’d get in touch with you first cuz there’s no way I’d go there unless I was gonna get to meet YOU!!
As calamitysims says - you don’t look fat or pudgy.
The glass dish is super.
I’ve had a very lazy few days catching up on a sleep deficit (well that’s my excuse).
I popped by yesterday but didn’t leave a message as I became waylaid by your MEEZ - I just had to try it out for myself. Bit limited as they don’t have a figure fat enough for me - so I chose the podgy Penny (really ! ) one. They don’t have mid-length wild curls either and i couln’t find specs. But some representation of me on my blog as a work in progress! Thanks for finding all these goodies for us to explore.
Happy New Year to you and all those you care about - may 2008 be a happy and healthy year for you.
x
Ooooh - gotta go check out your Meez! **drops the groceries and runs out the door to Penny’s place**
Later - Penny - I tried to leave a comment at your site and I’m logged into WordPress but it is asking me to log in so I’m kind of confused. Something must have changed over there because I don’t remember having that message come up for me before. I’ll try again later. But I did see your Meez and she is adorable! I know there are eyeglasses in there somewhere and there may be hair more to your liking - just not that easy to find, I’ll admit - you have to poke around a bit. But they are fun for imparting a general mood to your audience without words.
Ahh…I love the painted birds on the music sheet
)
And by the way, what’s all this pudgy talk? You’re lovely!!! (and so are cookies…mmmm…
Aww, Romi - I don’t even know you that well but I already know I love you! Flattery and cookies - there is nothing better!!!
Wouldn’t that be fatter and cookies?
Sorry…just like to make you chuckle.
LOL. You always do!
I LOVE seeing pictures of you and I told you once already… you are NOT pudgy! I will have to come cyber slap you if I hear anymore of that talk around here
Those peices are great… the bowl is really cool but I have to say, with my clumsy habits I would be afraid to go anywhere near it. Be very glad I live to far away to see it in person!
Happy New Year dear friend!
I would LOVE for you to come here , but yeah, I don’t really want a slap so I promise not to talk about my pudge anymore.
Yes, that bowl is definitely delicate but that is part of it’s beauty. I will put the bowl way up high on the cabinets where you can’t reach if you come over! LOL
And a very Happy New Year to you too, my friend!
You know what? I already know I love you too! Sometimes you just know eh?
(and I’m Canadian, so OF COURSE you get an “eh” at the end of that sentence
)
LOL. You’re awesome.
Would you believe I actually meant to say “fattery and cookies”? Darn those typos. Is that a bit funnier? Where have you been? Will I see you before the end of this year? lol
Even your typos crack me up! And I’m chatting with you now! So yes, sorry to break it to you that you have to see me before the end of the year!
I am really glad that you got to the gallery safely!
VERY nice photo of you(now we know who you are..lol)
PUDGY????
Eek…so silly!
Happy New Year again!
((hugs))
Oh me too, Merri! I was really looking forward to seeing Heather’s art in person. What a special treat that was for me. Everything else was just icing on the cake!

Oh, it was a lot of fun - and yes, isn’t that piece unique and delicate? Thanks for calling me a doll. You always make me feel good about myself. Hugs to you!
it sounds like you had a great time. The pictures look great. I love the glass bowl.
Thanks, Opal! Glad to see you, stranger!

Big Hug, and thanks again for sending the links. I really enjoyed being at your blog today
Okay, I promise. Let’s just hope I don’t go the other way and get all conceited now.
And I always enjoy having you, my friend.
