The Story Game Story Results

Posted on January 7, 2008 - Filed Under Games, Just for Fun

This post is the story that resulted from a group effort game, that was first described here. It’s fun to see where people were headed and how some people thought similarly while others were quite different and original. I left the paragraph breaks in so you can see where each person’s lines started. Remember, each person could only work with the text directly above theirs and nothing else. I did let people know that the main character’s name was Jeremiah when it was missing in the lines above theirs just to keep a little continuity. So would you do this again? Would you change anything to improve it? Oh, by the way, if you have any last minute submissions to the Bad Baby Name Game then send them along, using the Email Me tab since I’ll be posting those Monday (1/07/2008) evening!

=======

One day, Jeremiah the Bullfrog decided he was bored with his regular old swamp setting. He was tired of seeing the same thing day after day, the same other frogs all the time, and the same old scenery. So he decided

he would like to try living in the lily pond at the Botanic Gardens. Now Jeremiah knew that the Botanic Gardens were in the city, which was a long way from his swamp. He decided that he would try and hitch a ride

with the traveling flea circus that was parked a few miles away. So, Jeremiah packed up his belongings, said his goodbyes to his friends and family, and headed off to talk to the Flea Master. Now, that swamp was all kinds of confusing, as most swamps are, and poor Jeremiah got lost more than once! After passing the same crocodile nest 4 times, Jeremiah

decided to take matters into his own hands. He pulled out of his pocket the small envelope he had been given by his grandpa when he was a wee lad. He remembered Grandpa’s words as he carefully opened it, making sure not to spill any of the contents; “Son, always remember that happiness is best gained when

you have a variety of lollipops within reach. The sugary goodness will lift your spirits high no matter how low one may feel. Each lick licked, each taste bud satisfied, each moment you have with your lollipops will bring you such joy” and

…as Jeremiah gazed at the various bright colors his tortured mind wrestled his thoughts like a juggler in a stampede. A violent rush of memories of the cantankerous aging Nana wielding her thunderous voice, “You know what happens when

you put your face like that, it will stay like that forever!” He rolled his eyes at himself. Suddenly he felt like he was suffocating in the close quarters of his house. He needed to get out. He grabbed his keys and ……

jumped on his bike. The grumble of the engine instantly made him feel better. But he noticed something strange on the sidewalk. He bent over to….

flip it over, he felt the bile rising in his throat. What else could happen today? He knew he had to…

hurry before it was too late. But he had seen it with his own eyes. What if she…

(Hayley) dosesn’t live? We will never hear the end of it for not being there too see it.

But there are more important things at stake and at times like these, we can’t worry about the feelings of others. We need to save the

Polar bears. “Quick, Haylee, we need to buy a coca-cola for all the polar bears so we can stop global warming!” Jeremiah yelled. So they hurried along the

quickest path they could find, in order to get to the general store to buy some coca-cola. When Jeremiah and Haylee got to the store, however, it was closed; so,

They went around to the back of the store, grabbed the first thing they could find from the trash which happened to be an iron and the smashed in the….

…. small window to the right of the door. Carefully Jeremiah reached through and twisted the lock. The door swung open, groaning softly. They looked at each other with a mixture of fear and excitement, this was it. Suddenly, as the moonlight illuminated the store they noticed…..

…seven German Shepherds poised to pounce, by the canned goods. As the seven pairs of yellow eyes stared them down, Jeremiah said to Haylee: “Do you remember any of the stuff you learned with Poofy at doggie obedience school? Because now would be a good time.”

“Haylee stood up and was momentarily distracted by the long, jagged tear in her new jeans. She had more pressing matters to dwell on though, and fixed what she hoped was a serious looking frown on her face. Down, she commanded, and darn, if all the German Shepherds didn’t do just what she’d asked. With a smile, she turned to Jeremiah and gave him a bone-tingling kiss that they’d both remember for a long time to come.”

    So glad I participated!

Yeah, this definitely took off in different directions. LOL.

ROTFLMAO  When you do this again count me in. This is to fun. I’m so sad the store was closed…what will happen to my poor polar bears now?

I definitely will count you in again, Cowgal! It was an exciting ride for me as I had no idea where each of you would be taking this story. LOL. Maybe we need to do a Chapter II to this one and see just what happens to the polar bears? Now that we know Jeremiah is um, happily occupied with Haylee. LOL.

Lol, very funny. Jeremiah morphed from a frog to something else entirely. Great game Teeni!

Yeah, Jeremiah found love even though he wasn’t necessarily looking for it. LOL. Well, I guess you just never know what is going to happen to a bored bullfrog who leaves his familiar swampy surroundings. I definitely think we need to do another one of these soon.

Pretty funny!!! I enjoyed taking part, and I’d sure love to do it again! If you can, please put me near the end of the list next time, so I can create a few more twists & turns (without actually knowing it).

I’d be happy to do that, Hannah. This time I just did it in the order of the comments - only because that was the easiest (laziest) way for me to keep track of who it was to be emailed to next. LOL. I think the next time I will keep a separate list and randomize the order of the participants to shake things up. But I’ll be sure to put you closer to the end if you like. :D

  8. yourgrace2001ca on January 7th, 2008 1:45 pm

Loved it! Count me in. I’ll try not to be the weakest link this time.

Oh, you weren’t the weakest link, you silly! It all made for fun and the twists and turns were like little peeks into your dark minds. LOL. I definitely think we’ll try this type of thing again soon though. It was neat to get so many people involved. :D

Loved it! Totally loved it. I’m in if you do it again!

Okay - definitely. I think now that we all know what to expect and how it works, we definitely need to do it again! :)

  10. Diane (37 comments.) on January 7th, 2008 6:55 pm

Loved it! And the twists and turns are just what made it good reading too.
And a love story to boot!

LOL. Yeah, something for everyone. Gotta thank Kate for that love story. Hot stuff! heehee.

Hee, hee, I was about where Jerimiah turned into a driving house living froggie….Go Jerimiah!

That was great fun, thanks for organizing it Teeni :-)
No problem, Kami - it was something we just HAD to try and it was neat to get lots of people involved. I’ll try and organize another one soon. ;)

The only thing I caught was that we changed the spelling of the girl’s name a bit there LOL ;)
Wow - I didn’t even notice that until you said it. Good catch, Kaylee! Yeah, it’s almost like playing that game, telephone, so you never know what is going to change or how it is going to end up. LOL.

  13. kaylee2 (133 comments.) on January 7th, 2008 9:28 pm

Yeah, thats the part thats fun about it.I only noticed it cause I am one that likes to ick out that kind of details I swear I would be a good editor someday LOL! Also maybe me giving her the original name had to do with it? LOL!

That could be it too - since she was your creation you would naturally be a little protective of her. LOL.

And to think Jeremiah was a bullfrog … that was great fun, Teeni. I’ll play again anytime.

Oh good - I definitely want to do it again soon, now that we all have a sense of how it works it should be even more fun. :)

  15. kaylee2 (133 comments.) on January 7th, 2008 10:03 pm

what did you name it Jereimigh the bullfrog?

Yeah, just like the song, “Jeremiah was a bullfrog…was a good friend of mine…etc.”

  16. Calamity (121 comments.) on January 8th, 2008 12:02 pm

Now that was good! Im so glad I had a part of it! I want to do this again!! I love how Jeremiah evolved! LOL

Yes, it’s almost like he just needed the right writer to turn him into a prince! LOL

  17. Melsie (53 comments.) on January 8th, 2008 3:35 pm

That was a lot of fun!! I’m definitely in for the next round!! Now I really want to know what he saw when he was flipping it over!

Yeah, you’ve been a little scarce around these parts. I was wondering what you been up to. Hope all is well, Melsie dear. I’ve missed you! :) And I do hope you will join the next one.

  18. Chanya (3 comments.) on January 13th, 2008 11:13 am

Oh my gosh, that was so silly and funny. Who knew that a couple of bullfrogs could break into a country store and control a herd of german shephards? LOL.
    Annie

Yup - that was really silly. But now that everyone knows how to play, we may have to try it again and see what we come up with.

That story rocked! Great job everyone, I was very intrigued… I wonder how it would be if we wrote more than just a few sentences… :-o
I don’t know - I guess I just don’t want it to become a burden of an assignment for anyone. LOL. But maybe I’ll just let people know they can go longer if they like in the next game. It’s no more work for me since I’ll be cutting and pasting and not retyping it all. LOL. :)
