My Technical Romance

I hope everyone had a wonderful day yesterday, whether you have a significant other or not. I have a few memes and awards to post about but first, I would like to share with you how my Valentine’s Day went.
In the morning and early afternoon, I made a tray of low-fat raspberry oatmeal squares, a batch of nut milk, and a wheat berry and barley salad. I also had made some bread the night before. All of these goodies were delivered to my niece who is on a low-iodine diet. Since she is not supposed to drive for a little while, I dropped my goodies off to her house and then took her so she could do some shopping. My mom went to her house too so she could stay and watch the kids while we did the shopping.
Well, I didn’t get home until about seven o’clock but when I got home, TGH was making me dinner (he got the idea from a comment I had made somewhere in a previous post, what a sweetie). The menu was salisbury steak with green beans and noodles with brown gravy. This was also the first meal he had ever cooked for me in our house so he recreated it for Valentine’s Day. He also had flowers (just some regular, but very pretty and often neglected on this day, carnations) to greet me when I came in. A little box wrapped in pink paper was at my place on the dining room table. On the stereo the CD that we had made up as favors from our wedding was playing. ![]()
Well, the salisbury steaks got a little burned and set off the smoke alarms, scaring the bejeebus out of the cats who went scurrying all over the house. Also, some bags of flour that I had left out earlier were obviously too close to the stove top and the bags got a little melty (I re-bagged them in new gallon ziptop bags for freshness). Fortunately nothing (and nobody) was broken in the crisis situation.
And the man did not forget dessert. It was strawberry shortcake - good, but the strawberries hadn’t had a long enough time sitting with the sugar on top for the juices to flow much (who cares though, right? - I mean it was strawberry shortcake!) Then, the man did all the clean up of dishes afterwards! I helped a little but he did the most of the work.
And as if that were not enough to keep me loving him - the little pink box on the dining table I mentioned earlier? - it contained the cutest little pink Ipod Nano inside! Just for me! Smaller than his full sized version (but my listening tastes are much narrower than his so I don’t need as much space or bulk) and matching my cheezy $6 pink rhinestoned earbuds, it was something I had been eyeing for some time but not wanting to spend money on. This will be the perfect companion for me to take to the gym and since I have been dancing around the house since TGH set it up for me, I am sure I’ll be losing a few pounds in the near future!
Guess what I got TGH? A card. How DOES he put up with me? ![]()
Oh, and yes I realize the picture at the top has nothing to do with this post but I had made some heart shaped empanadas with salad for dinner a few nights ago and just thought they came out cute. And hearts are good any day, right? ![]()

TGH, you done good!
Hope you both enjoyed your wonderful evening together
Thanks, Kami! It was a nice evening with my favorite man!
Oh Teeni, what a man you have!! An iPod, that is sooooo awesome, I know you have been wanting one. You’re gonna love it! I know you already “borrow” TGH’s so you know how cool they are, but it’s neat having your own one and filling it with all the songs YOU like
Dinner sounds just lovely, and HE MADE DESSERT?? Seriously, he gets a ton of brownie points for that one! My hubby can cook but he doesn’t really make desserts, or baking. I think he’s made 2 cakes in the entire 11 years we’ve been together!
LOL. Yes, he definitely gets brownie points for the dessert. He disappeared into the kitchen after the meal so I wondered if he had made dessert and he came out with the strawberry shortcake and apologized for it not having enough time for the strawberries to get juicy. What a sweetheart. Yeup - I’ll keep him!
Oh wow, you guys are so sweet Teeni! How cool, a pink Ipod
Oh, I’m already loving this Ipod like you wouldn’t believe. So fun doing household chores while I’m dancing to my fave songs. AND unlike the radio - EVERY song that comes on is one I like!
Oh, wow! What a loving man!
I love those hearts too. How cute are they?
I forgot it was Valentines Day - totally. How romantic is that?
LOL at the cats scattering
I have forgotten about holidays sometimes too! I’m glad I’m not the only one. LOL - yes the cats tend to get skittish when they hear unexpected noises, but in their defense, those smoke alarms really are loud and scary sounding. One even has a female’s voice that announces there is a fire. That one freaks me out - I didn’t know that until they went off last night!
Nice Teeni! Your guy sounds awefully sweet! The ipod nano and blinged out buds are great! It sounds like you had a wonderful Valentines Day and I’m happy for you both - how absolutely romantic
He’s a keeper! Thanks, Lumpy!
Sounds like a very a very adventurous evening. lol …but fun. Congrats on the ipod!
Thanks, buddy!
What a sweety!!! Im so glad you had a good day! I will be posting about mine in a few. LOL Yea! On the Nano! I have the small pink one as well! Dancing time!!! LOL
Definitely - Dancing Time!!! LOL
you are a lucky spoiled lady!!
You know, I really am spoiled in so many ways. But I’m not complaining!
I love that picture! I <3 those empanadas. And, what a guy!
Thanks, Witchypoo! I’m glad you like the empanadas. I really thought they came out cute. I guess that might sound vain but I used to make awesome pie crusts from scratch before going mostly veggie and the pie crust used here are vegan and they are a little more work to make so I was a wee bit proud of myself, I admit it.
Well at least you know the fire alarms work OK. Have just made you an award winner - be nice if you could pop over to collect one or the other of them. ;-).
LOL - yes, I’m glad to know those things work well. Wow - another award? For mois? Sure - I’m definitely coming to get it (them)! Thanks so much, Penny!
That is SO romantic and sweet of your boy; he IS a keeper!
LOL about the poor kitties..lol.
Good that the smoke detectors work but HOW freaky about the woman’s voice!
I am totally envious about the ipod…
what fun!
I’m dancing to the housework today! LOL
That sounds like a night at my house….he he
Sounds like you had a wonderful day! The food in the photo looks sooooo yummy too!
Wow - do you have nights like that often? Thanks about the food - I thought it tasted pretty good too. LOL
To clarify, we got a Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Detector. The woman speaks to let you know what kind of issue you are having.
Yeah, well, she ought to just watch that tone of voice of hers when she addresses me. Or I’ll give her an issue to talk about.
SOUNdS much better than my day
Yes, I should say so! I left comments at your site.
that is so sweet of him teeni… you are blessed
oh those empanadas look pretty cute… Im sure they were delicious too..
oh and my smoke alarm is pretty old and no man talking through it
I really am blessed and spoiled, but I’m trying not to take it for granted. Be glad there is no voice coming out of your smoke alarm - it is kind of freaky!
Oh Teeni,
you got a keeper there. I love the smoke alarm snafu though - I almost spit my lunch onto my monitor. Have to watch that. And shame on you - just a card for such a great hubby. You should be whipped 10 times with a wet noodle.
Annie
Well, I wasn’t going to go into details about what transpired AFTER dinner! You know, might be too much information for some of the audience. LOL!
Ooooh! TGH did GOOOD! Yay for him!
I hope you gave him some booty after that, too!
Heehee.
