I’ve Been Booked!
Posted on February 16, 2008 - Filed Under Meme
No, I haven’t been arrested! I’ve just been tagged with a book meme. Actually I got tagged for the same meme by two different people (note to self: This is what happens when you get behind in posting your memes). Hopefully this post will satisfy both of them. Actually, it kind of has to because the book closest to me was the same when I got each tag! ![]()
Anyway, first the Diva tagged me and shortly afterwards, I was tagged by Paige for the very same meme!
The rules of this meme are to:
* Pick up the nearest book (of at least 123 pages).
* Open the book to page 123.
* Find the fifth sentence.
* Post the next three sentences.
* Tag five people.
The nearest book to me when I was tagged was one TGH had on his nightstand - Blaze by Stephen King writing as Richard Bachman. So here’s a little “taste” for you.
“Sure, right out of the can. Is it spoiled, George?”
“No, it isn’t spoiled. But if you don’t take off the cap and put in some water, he’ll puke.”
“Oh.”
Just makes you want to run out and read it, huh? LOL.
Since I’m late to the meme game this time around, I’m not going to tag anyone but am opening it up for anyone who didn’t get tagged and would like to do it. I sure wouldn’t mind seeing what Kate or Merri came up with, but I’m not tagging, just saying. ![]()

Clever meme, I like this one. However, I’m at work and the closest book is our standard operating procedures; and I’m sure that would be of no interest to anyone
So, I’ll do this next time I blog at home. Have a wonderful weekend Teeni! Thanks for the heads-up btw. True dat! True dat! I like speaking in code, makes me feel so important
Aww, sorry you have to work on the weekend, Lumpy. I look forward to seeing your book meme, when you can do it.
Yeah, I think I’ll stay away from that book. I am not a Stephen King fan, I like to sleep at night - hee hee.
Have a great weekend Teeni!
Oh, I know what you mean, Kami. I love horror movies but the older I get the less scary/gorey I can handle. I hope you have a wonderful weekend as well.
How’s the story game coming along, Teeni?
LOL. I was just thinking I’ve got to get pushing that thing through. I better go check and see where it stands! Thanks for reminding me!
I will do it! I love stuff like that!
I guess it might have to be a bit later today, as I think H wants to go shopping when he gets back from the gym.
(I have to admit that the stephen king book did NOT sound like my cup of tea..lol)
thanks, Teeni!
Great - well, no pressure, of course. I’d like to read yours but don’t want to stress you out! LOL. The Stephen King book was actually a good one - not scary or gory this time, but that passage wouldn’t have drawn me in either. LOL
i will not read that book! and ummmmm i am glad that first sentenced didnt happen LOL!
Yeah, spoiled food and puking just don’t make you want to run out and read a book.
Okay, it must be me because I don’t get t his meme. Are we supposed to add sentences and round robin it? Or just go find our own book and display three lines??? I cornfused.
Annie
Sorry for the cornfusion, Annie!
You just are going to display three lines from the book. No round robins. But you might like what Chanya is doing at blogstruk.com if you haven’t seen it already - she’s doing something similar to the story game but with limericks! I already put a line in - check it out if you can - she’s on my blogroll which I just moved to it’s own separate page. Sorry too lazy to get it for you. Boy am I a sack of potatoes.
Since you asked so nicely, I will do it … in thee morning since I am about to turn off my laptop. See - I came here last thing at night. I’m glad that I did. Thank you and sleep well (although you are probably sleeping since it’s 1:00 am here which means it is 2:00 there. or maybe even 3:00.)
Night Kate oxo
Aww, thanks Kate! I know you have good books there! Oh, and thanks for stopping by late at night to tuck me in!
Not sure I’ll be adding that book to my “must read” list!! LOL!!
LOL - Can’t blame you, Hannah! It really is a pretty good book, especially if you liked “Of Mice and Men.” But that excerpt was probably the worst I could have taken. Too funny.
Mm .. puke.
Im stealing this one.
LOL - Cool! Can’t wait to see yours!
I’m a huge fan of King I’m currently reading Duma Key what an excellent book! There are parts of it creeped me out in the same The Shining did when I read it at eight years old. I always thought he was the master of letting the readers imagination run wild.
I’ve read the books he’s written as Bachman also.
He is one of my favorite authors because of the ideas he comes up and I usually like the way he develops his characters. A few, like Lisey’s story do have parts that drag out too long for me though. However, I have liked most of the Bachman ones.
