Live Poet’s Society Word Picks
Posted on March 20, 2008 - Filed Under Uncategorized
I’m falling behind in my blog visits because dang real life is getting in the way! LOL. So please be patient with me as I have not fallen out of the blogosphere and hope to catch up with you all soon. ![]()
Now, if you remember, Hannah gave me this assignment for the Live Poet’s Society. I am running late with it but here are my six words picked from a dictionary at random. I used an old copy of Random House Webster’s College Dictionary.
Stay tuned as I hope to post my completed assignment using these words in the next week.
- Five Civilized Nations? How the heck am I gonna use that?!! Wait, that’s not really one word so I’m gonna say that doesn’t count and go with the word above that in my dictionary, which is just five
- mum
- lenient
- canto (how appropriate)
- punch
- turista (oh boy - this should be good - I thought this was how you said “tourist” with a slight accent, but boy was I wrong)
Feel free to look any of these up so you’ll know what I’m dealing with (I’ve included handy links for you to dictionary.com for each definition cuz I’m cool like that). Wish me luck! ![]()

haha good luck. I had no idea that was what turista meant. I’ve learnt something new today!!
Sounds like a fun game actually. I might give it a whirl one day when I have less work on and no request blogposts left to write.
Have a lovely Easter!
Thanks, RB. Oh, I’d love to have you join in on some of these assignments. I hear you on the catching up on blog posts, though. You have a lovely Easter also!
Ooh, good words! I am quite excited to see what you come up with. In time, of course. There’s no hurry
Hannah, I’m a little anxious about these words, LOL. But that is half the fun for the poem. I will contact you by email before I post my assignment so you will know in case you want to post yours at the same time.
::sneeks in when Hay isnt looking.::

Have a wonderful Easter, Kaylee.
Kaylee - off with you dear girl! Go get better, quick!
LOL Teeni, the outcome of this should be very interesting!!
LOL. Yes, and it’s scaring me. heehee
Hmm…looks interesting.
Yes, verrry interesting.
wow, you have your work cut out for you! But I have the utmost in faith that you will do a fantastic job!

Aw, thanks for the vote of confidence, Kami. I hope I can live up to it.
Oooh Teens, I love Five Civilised Nations - you could write a sci-fi/fantasy story about the riff between the 5 civilized nations being not too civilized.
WC
That actually would be interesting. But for this assignment I just needed to pick a word randomly from the dictionary for use in a poem, so I’ve disqualified Five Civilized Nations because it really isn’t one word. But hey, you never know. Maybe I’ll surprise you.
Holy cow!! That doesnt sound like it’ll be an easy task.
*bites nails*
I bit off my nails after I looked at my resulting list too! Yikes.
That’s the main problem with ‘real life’ it gets in the say of blogging - so funny -
I hope you are not caught up in the flooding we’re hearing about in mid west USA? I’m not quite sure what area of the States you are in - let me know the state and maybe a near by town/area and I’ll get the atlas out. Take care friend :-). Hugs x
Why does one see the typo error just after pushing the submit button !!
Oh, LOL - that happens to me all the time too, Penny! It’s like Murphy’s Law - you never notice the typo until after hitting “publish” or “submit.” Oh well. I knew what you meant and don’t you worry - I am not near the flooding so far. I’m in the northeast portion of the U.S - New England. We have our share of bad weather here so I hope the flooding doesn’t head our way, but I do feel so bad for our midwesterners. There has been so much flooding in that area in the last few years. It is scary. Thanks for being concerned for me, buddy!
[…] picked my words and posted them here. I have to admit that I was not up to the sestina challenge portion of this assignment THIS time, […]
