Message in a Bottle
Posted on April 5, 2008 - Filed Under Meme
A little while ago, I was tagged for a meme by my buddy Tish at the Kat House. I put it off for a bit, hoping I could do it from my new blog, but that is taking longer than I thought (due to my learning curve with WordPress, mostly). So, no reason to put a good meme off any longer. I don’t want her thinking I forgot! ![]()
For this meme, you send a message in a bottle across the Blog Ocean. The message can be anything you want. Be creative and have fun. Here’s how:
1. Compose a message to place in your virtual bottle.
2. Right click and SAVE the blank graphic below.

3. Use a graphics program of your choice to place the message on the picture.
4. Post the Message in a Bottle meme and your creation on your blog along with these rules.
5. Tag a minimum of 5 bloggers - or your entire blogroll - to do the same. Notify them of the tag.
Next, go over to Mimi’s site. She is the creator of this meme. You can ADD your site to her Mr. Linky list and place your blog’s name and url in a comment here to let Mimi know you’ve completed the meme. Mimi will add it to the master list of message bottles. Email mimiwrites2005 at yahoo.com if you have questions. I’m going to leave this open to my whole blogroll. Anyone who thinks this is fun should definitely participate! But, as always, no pressure.
Here’s mine.
I don’t mean that I have no regrets. Everyone has done things they regret. But I have learned (rather late in life) that you should make decisions that ensure you will not feel bad later. When you are faced with a decision, make the choice that you can always feel good about. I don’t mean that in a selfish way, like make sure you get the most expensive, full-featured television now or you’ll regret it later, but what I mean is make the decisions that your conscience is going to have no problems with later. Such as, enjoy the people you love while they are here, be nice to people, be there for your friends, use your time wisely - don’t waste it - these are all things you never have to regret. Just because I learned late doesn’t mean you have to . And the bonus of trying to live with no regrets? You will have a clearer conscience and be happier. Trust me on that. ![]()

Very cool Teeni, I might do this one!!!
Wow - you got here fast! LOL. It is a fun one. I’d love to see what you put in your bottle, Hay!
Sweet post Teeni and very true about living w/ no regrets. Whether you learn it early on or late — ‘ya learned it and that’s all that matters…. What a great reminder!
Thanks, Lumpy. Your words are true.
Cool! love it! I’ll have a looky at this later. Sorry, I’ve not been along for a while. Getting bogged down with real life again!
I hope that real life is treating you good, Diane!
Do you need some handholding with WordPress and self-hosting?
Yes, I do and I’ll be the first to admit it!
I have mental blocks, I think.
That is fantastic advice Teeni! Thanks:-)
Good luck getting your new site up and running. I think you are a brave soul for tackling that.
Thanks, Kami. Yeah, I’m brave and also maybe not too bright.
Too true, teeni.
Another aspect: even though all of us have done things that we regret, you have to let go of them as water under the bridge and a lesson learned. Holding onto regret for the past can destroy your life in the present.
BTW, if you need any help with WordPress, don’t hesitate to ask. I’ve become too intimate with it over the last couple of years… its one of my regrets.
LOL. Good point in that first comment. And, aw, thanks so much. Fellow bloggers are truly the best and most helpful people. Right now I’m trying to put together a contact form for my new Email me tab in my new blog. I’d like it to look similar to the one in this blog so if anyone has any pointers, I’m all ears (um, and eyes, considering the medium we’re using - LOL)
Great message, Teeni!!
:-)
Thanks, Hannah!
just message me and I will be your willing slave.
Thanks so much Witchypoo - I’m going to try and take you up on this. Maybe tonight.
Shamless plug: I sell these on my custom gifts websites!
Another cool meme that Teeni makes me aware of, I am strating to get behind on memes now… ;-o
You sell messages in bottles? I need to check that out. Talina - don’t let my memes stress you out - if you can’t get around to it, that is fine by me. I just tag people whose responses I think I’d enjoy seeing, but I never want to put pressure on anyone - we all get busy and I totally understand. Just so you know, that’s my feeling on it. So don’t feel behind, okay?
Great message loved it
Okay i cant stop reading that last parAGRAPH LOL!
You have the best attitude Teeni!
I never have regrets myself; it is VERY freeing…
(LOL about the most featured TV etc..)
Well, that must be why you’re always merry, Merri!
I think I learned the opposite lesson - ie don’t be TOO cautious - otherwise you can miss out!
But I still try to keep my regrets to a minimum within reason, just not to the extent that I take no risks at all!
I think my biggest bit of philosophy is ‘always be kind to yourself - life will beat you up enough without you joining in!’
Which shouldn’t be construed as a licence for mindless self-indulgence/selfishness - more about just liking yourself genuinely so you are apt to act as a friend to yourself rather than a self-destructive enemy.
Hi Poetlaura-eate! Welcome to the Vaguetarian Tea Room! I see what you are saying and in no way am I trying to instill paranoia or make people overly cautious, just want them to think consider how they will feel in time when they make a decision today. You are also right about being kind to yourself because life does beat you up enough! LOL. All very good points! Thanks so much for coming and commenting. Friendly faces are always welcome here!
Oh, and you should definitely try to do this meme and put your message in the bottle too!
that is very cool.. i like it!
Thanks!
Oh, oh! Me too! Me too!
Oh, do the meme, Fourleaf! I’d love to see what your message says!
Yeah, I’m with you on this one. I try to do the same and I learned the lesson late too. But it is actually quite liberating, not constricting, when you get your mind round it and put it into action. It gives you something to focus on when you are faced with a decision or a forked path and can actually stop you freaking out about things (well, not you - i mean me!).
Oh yes - it’s definitely liberating. Why didn’t I think like this when I was younger? Sheesh.
