Fluff Five Meme
Posted on April 30, 2008 - Filed Under Meme
I am sooooo far behind in blogging - and I just won another prize that I’ve got to tell you about that after this post!!! This is great timing because I’ve got to start shaking things up here in the tea room! But first, the meme.
I was tagged to do the Fluff Five Meme by Joan Harvest. Basically you just need to write about five things for each of the headings I’ve put in bold here. You can also use photos. If you get a chance, go read Joan’s as well- she is a riot and a really fun read.
Five Things in your bag:
(Click for bigger pics.) Pair of $10 sunglasses. I won’t spend more than that on something I could easily lose or forget somewhere, which is why I still have this pair I’ve had for about ten years now and well, I guess that explains why they are all scratched up. LOL.
My extra memory pack (notepad and pen) with special mathematical processing computer (calculator). I absolutely LOVE this thing - it has saved me so much trouble. Out shopping I can use the calculator to perform feats of math that I couldn’t posibly do in my own brain (or on my fingers and toes for that matter). Also, the paper and pen is indispensable! I can write things down to remember later, like the pattern of china I fell in love with, or the information for the guy I just rear-ended. Seriously, this notepad/calculator combo is one of my favorite things ever and I wish everyone had one - no searching for the pen in your purse because it’s right there!
I also have some hand sanitizer in a tiny bottle so I can quickly clean my hands before/after food shopping. One of the more expensive markets around me has the handy wipes that you can wipe down your cart handle with, but most places don’t.
Speaking of food, sometimes you are out for a while and you get a bit hungry before mealtime. So instead of being tempted to go eat some junk on the road, I have a handy Larabar in my purse. This one is Apple Pie flavor, but my fave is Banana Cookie. They’re all good though, and they tide me over until I get home to have something to eat that is both healthier and less expensive than eating out.
Last of the five items I found in my purse is my contact lens rewetting solution. I love this stuff and it is in a handy little bottle to take with me easily. My eyes get dried out quickly when TGH puts on the air conditioning in the car. The rewetting drops always feel so soothing and refreshing. Ahhhh.
Five Favorite Things in Your Room
Toast! He’s usually hanging out in the bedroom when he is not trying to break my neck by encircling my legs in a Figure 8. But he doesn’t really count because he is not a thing. But the electric woodstove he is relaxing on? That is one of my favorite things! I love to turn that sucker on and take the chill out of the bedroom on winter nights. It is clean and heats the air using electric lights and then a blower circulates the warmed air out into the room. The electric lights also light up and create a “fire” with realistic looking flames over the realistic looking styrofoam logs. Sounds funny but they really do look real and the door to the “woodstove” really opens so that makes it appear even more realistic. So basically, it warms things up AND sets the mood. How can I NOT love something that is practical and whimsical at the same time?
Little Rug in Front of the Woodstove. If you look below the woodstove, you will see a funny, multicolored rectangular rug. This was made by my grandmother who was so thrilled whenever she saw me crocheting. She didn’t speak English, but she knew a few words and we mostly communicated by tone of voice and facial expressions. I could sit with her for hours and crochet while listening to her sing and talk even though I hardly understood a word. We loved each other’s company and whenever I visited she would be interested to see what I was making. Whenever she caught me NOT crocheting, she’d tell me to “Work, work! Piece work!” Needless to say, this little rug means a lot to me, and fits perfectly in front of my woodstove.
On my nightstand, you can find a few more of my favorite things. They are the carafe set that keeps the water by my bed so I can take my medications and have a good long drink int he morning to get a head start on my water intake. It’s very handy and very pretty I think. I also have a pump bottle full of scented hand lotion that I like to put on before bed. White Tea and Ginger, yum! Lastly, behind the carafe is a big bag of organic green matter and no matter what you are thinking right now, just put it right out of your mind. It is NOT anything illegal!
See? It’s a bag of Balsam Fir from Maine. It smells heavenly and makes for great sleeping. I bought such a huge bag, thinking that I’d make little sachets out of it. But I enjoy the smell so much that I have not gotten around to sharing it with anyone else yet. I will have to buy myself another bag this season.

Five Things You Have Always Wanted to Do
I’ve always wanted to learn to speak another language fluently. I came close with three years of Spanish in school but I’ve forgotten lots of it and have no real reason to use it on a regular basis where I live.
I’ve always wanted to write articles, for either a newspaper or magazine. I love the idea of freelancing and being my own boss.
I’d like to travel to Iceland - the scenery there looks fabulous! How could I NOT get some good shots there?
I always wanted to have some goats and alpacas. I don’t know why other than I think they are cute. Baby goats are adorable and alpacas just are pretty neat. I don’t know much about either so I probably shouldn’t really have them, but if I ever really had the opportunity, I’d do my research. I guess I wouldn’t mind running my own little cruelty free organic farm while I’m at it. Dream big, right?
Another thing I’ve always wanted to do is to own my own little cottage on a lake, possibly near a mountain or with a mountain view (the mountain view is for TGH more than me, but I certainly wouldn’t complain about it). I’d like to kayak and there and relax and enjoy the view and the loons and the hummingbirds. I’d rather be on a lake than the ocean only because I don’t think I’d be strong enough to kayak in ocean or moving water. But I wouldn’t mind if my lake was near the ocean. Then I could go to the ocean for a change of scenery.
I don’t know if goats and alpacas are afraid of water though.
Five People You Want to Tag
Kami - another excuse to practice with her new camera!
and Hay - another person whose photos I love to see so whenever it involves possible photos, I gotta tag her!
Now I have to go prepare my next post - my prize is so exciting! I can’t wait to show you!

Oh yeah, I can take more pictures!
That was fun Teeni, I like your stove, I need one of those in our room:-)
We are in the middle of painting our room and doing a bit of re-decorating so I am going to hold off on this one until it’s done because right now, there isn’t much I like in it. I am not really into messes if you know what I mean.

And I saw that your anniversary is May 2nd. Ours is May 8th. May is a great month for weddings wouldn’t you say?
Hi Kami! You know there is never any pressure from me on memes.
Yay - another anniversary coming up! Congrats to you both! Yes, May is a wonderful month for weddings. And oh, Kami - if I could send you one of these wood stoves I would! Whenever I turn it on I’m so thankful to have it and I always wish my northern friends are as warm and toasty.
I hope you will show us your painted rooms when you are done whether you can do the meme or not.
Looks like a fun meme. I’ll certainly give it a go!
Never any pressure, FourLeaf, but if you can I’d love to see yours!
Very cool Teeni, love your answers! And toast!
I will get on it!
Thanks, Hay! You know I’m always looking forward to your pictures!
Wow, great post!! I learned so many things about you in that meme!
Thanks, Hannah. I hope I didn’t scare you off!
Donde esta el ba`no?
I don’t know where the bathroom is! And I can’t answer in the right language. I guess that three years was a waste after all. But I got all A’s back then, believe it or not. LOL
Teeni!!! You like Larabars!!! Fabulous!!! I eat Larabars EVERY SINGLE DAY (yes, ’tis true). My favorite flavors are apple pie, banana cookie, cashew cookie, pecan pie, pistachio, and gingersnap :0)
Oh yeah, Larabars are awesome! I love ‘em. I did a couple of posts where I made up my own, similar type of recipes at home. They are always good to have on hand.
Lots of good info, Teeni, and I see you are prettying up your blog nicely. Love the signature.
Thanks, Witchypoo! That means a lot to me.
Goats are soooo cool. Fainting goats are the best.
Oh, I’ve seen those on TV. They are so cute. I always wonder if I had some of them if my cats would scare them and make them faint. Jam likes to sneak up on things. Especially Toast.
I’ve always liked goats.
But you should never feel “behind” on blogging. There is no timeline in blogging - it just happens when we can do it.
Yay - you like them too. I know you are right about feeling behind, RB. Thanks for reminding me. I sometimes get so worried about keeping my word or remembering to do things that I just want to do them right away. Yup, I’m a stress puppy. LOL. But thanks, I needed that! Hugs to you.
ok, im down with it.
i’ll try to bang this out this weekend….
Awesome - no pressure, mind you. But awesome if you can.
I love goats! The Godsband wont let me have them tho LOL
I guess I can understand that, Calamity - he probably has fears especially after your chicken house incident.
Heehee. Hugs to you, my calamitous friend.
Hi Teeni,
I’ve been down for the count after fibroid surgery so missed welcoming you to your new home. It looks great!!
I loved reading about your grandmother and you and crocheting … no wonder the rug in front of the woodstove means much to you.
I’m looking forward to hearing - and seeing - your forays into veggie gardening. (This morning I was at the garden centre - much too early for that - and bought some peppers and a 4 pack of tomatillo seedlings. I haven’t done much veg gardening here because I don’t get enough sun. But this summer, I’m braving the front garden and putting in veggies among the roses.)
Aww, Kate. I’ve sent you a private email and I do hope you are feeling better by now.
So funny! I saw it on Red’s sight and liked it so I stole it, but I haven’t published it yet, I’ll wait and see if I get tagged, if not I’ll do it anyway!
Oh, definitely steal it if you don’t get tagged. You know, you never have to twist my arm to get me to read your blog, Paige.
I want a goat too
They are better than dogs
Kaylee, I hope your dog isn’t reading this.
The portable extra “memory pack” looks really nifty! Since my 12 year old son is a math wizard and I usually never leave home with out him (he’s like my sweet shadow) I wouldn’t need that now, however, he will TRY to leave the next someday *sniff* and then it will be a necessity. Toast’s bed looks like fluffy heaven ~ does that come in an XXXL? Ha! Ha! Ha! This was fun Teeni
Aww. Hopefully you still will have your human calculator at home with you for a number of years so you can transition easier to a non-human calculator.
Oh, and I knitted that cat bed for Toast (well, actually that one was supposed to be Jam’s but Toast took it over and there is another one on the foot of the bed). **All proud that she actually knitted something herself.**
It’s 2:35 in the morning and I am trying to catch up on reading blogs and since they are in alphabetical order on my blogroll you, my dear friend , are at the bottom but I had to leave a little message before I go to bed. My niece went too Iceland last year on her honeymoon. They loved it. She ate whale. She hated it. They got incredible photos. I’m done. Gotta go to bed. I am writing this with one eye closed.
Awww, you stayed up so late for me! I will stay away from the whale if I ever get to Iceland!
