Anniversary and a Question
Posted on May 2, 2008 - Filed Under Polls/Opinions, Site Info
Today is TGH and my wedding anniversary. This year is four years! I’m so fortunate that he has put up with me this long!
This was our cake, made by a very good friend of ours, who we need to call soon! She even made us a special litte cake on our first anniversary so we wouldn’t have to save our cake top and eat year-old cake! Ewww! So you know we love her! Plus she is super talented, don’t you think so?
This is when we were announced into the reception room as husband and wife.
And now a question for you all to answer about comments. I know a lot of bloggers don’t respond to comments in their comments area but rather by sending e-mails. I was going to try and do that too. But I must say I’m having a hard time with that. I used to think one of the things I liked was how personal my blog was. The tea room is a conversational place. I know it doesn’t always make sense to respond to each and every comment, so I will cut down on those responses, but I think a lot of fun things happen in the comments area at times and it’s fun to go back and read what others have had to say. I think some of you have enjoyed that as well. Also, I feel like I’m ignoring my good buddies by not responding in the comments area. It feels colder somehow. Is it just me? I know the email responses works for some people but maybe not for the tea room? Maybe I just got too into the habit of responding there? I don’t know. How do you all feel about this or do you not care at all?
Since I’m busy anniversary-ing with TGH, this is an autopost but I’ll catch you all up later on how we spent the day!
Happy Anniversary, TGH! I love you famagabazillions!

HAPPY 4 YEAR WEDDING ANNIVERSARY!!!!!! So exciting - wishing you and TGH many MORE wonderful years together :0)
I say, do whatever makes YOU feel comfortable, regarding responding to comments and such - it’s your blog! Do what you’d like :0)
Thanks, VeggieGirl! Yeah, I think I’ve made my decision about the comments area. Thank you for your response and input! I really appreciate it and I’m glad so many people made the effort to respond.
Happy Anniversary! Ooo I bet a lot of naughty things are going to happen tonight *giggles*
To answer your question. I reply to comments on my site. That way it becomes an open forum to those who would like to add to the discussion.
Are they really naught though if we’re married to each other? Hmm. Let’s just go with the thought that it IS naughty. That seems more fun.
Thanks for responding to my question. I really appreciate everyone’s input.
Happy Anniversary!
I prefer responses in the comments. as you said, it’s more conversational. With WordPress, it’s possible to expose a feed for comments for a post, if someone wants to subscribe. Plus, as you have done below, the “Subscribe to comments” plugin will send an email notification anyway.
Thanks!
Thanks, Chip! It’s really nice to see everyone’s thoughts on this and I appreciate that you took the time to respond!
To my sister from another mister,
many happy congratulatory hugs and kisses to you and your TGH!! 2004 was a great year to be married!! B-rad and i will hit 4 years in September!
i like coming back to read the comments and the replies that the blog owner makes to those comments… and for some reason when people reply to my comments via email they end up in my spam box, weird.
anyway, whichever way you choose is fine by me! and have a happy happy day!!
Hi Diva!!!!! Thanks so much!!! Hugs and kisses right back at you. I think you are right - 2004 was a great year to get married! It’s neat that we have that in common too!
And thank you for the response to my question about the comments area. You’re a sweetie and I appreciate that you took the time.
Happy, happy anniversary- how cool and romantic!
Do what you feel is right for your comments section. I think it is important that what you do is what feels best for you, it is your blog and your space- It should emulate (sp?) you!
Thank you Talina! And I do agree with you about that - your blog should emulate you. Great point! Thanks for that.
Congratulations on your anniversary!!! My daughter and her husband will celebrate 4 years on July 10th. The cake was beautiful and so were you.
As far as the comments, I personally like reading everyones comments and also reading the blogger’s return comments. But on the other hand, whatever floats your boat works for me. Everyone has a different style and a different way and it’s all good.
Aww, thanks Joan! Your daughter was married in a good year!
Also, I kind of felt you would be one of the ones who liked the return comments in the comments are. But you are right - everyone should do what floats their won boat. Thanks for taking the time to respond. I do appreciate it. I’ll post my decision later.
Woot! Congratulations to the beautiful bride and her lucky man.
Comments? I answer in the comments section when I have something to contribute to the discussion, but I usually just shoot off a saucy one liner by email. Somebody new, I try to email personally. I never have enough hours in the day to go back to each blog and see how my comment was answered, unless it is a provocative or heated discussion that I am curious to see how it will develop.
LOL. Your saucy one-liners must be one of your signatures, Witchypoo! I do love your mind and its quick wit! I totally understand what you are saying about not having enough time to check responses unless it was a particularly provocative discussion or one that really grabbed your attention. Thanks for responding - I appreciate it!
Happy Anniversary! I love the photos.
No comment on comments. lol
Thanks! Oh, playing it safe, huh?
LOL
You should edit out the fan in the third one though.
I guess TGH picked on you enough for this one in the next comment.
Wooo. I love you famagabazillions too. The photographer did edit out a waiter from one picture, but I never really noticed the fan. I don’t mind it though.
We had an outdoor wedding and it started raining 15 minutes before it started (too late to move inside). I slid on the wet gazebo and almost did the splits in front of everyone. Teeni’s dress obviously got wet and got a little heavy (it was low cut in the back), so I kept following her lifting up the back of her dress, so everyone couldn’t see her underwear. I guess I’m saying “imperfections” sometimes make something perfect and memorable. Who am I kidding, it is just a fan, are you volunteering?
Definitely - little imperfections make some things more memorable! That must be why you love me.
Aww, your wedding pictures are just too cute…! Happy anniversary, and here’s to many more!
Thanks, Hannah! You know I was out of my comfort zone posting those and I asked TGH about it and he said he didn’t mind me posting the photos but I was the one with the big problem. So I’m still working on it. But that wasn’t so bad really with all my great blog buddies’ comments.
Congratulations Teeni and husband
I really enjoyed seeing your pictures- you are a beautiful bride!
Also, personally, I like responding to my comments right with in the same comment (Annie at WC taught me this). I love it when I go to one of my favorite blogs, and as I’m reading the comments to the post I can see how everyone weighed in including the author…
Hi JQ! Aww, thanks - you are so sweet. And I didn’t even have to pay you for that comment! LOL. And thanks for weighing in on the comments question. I really appreciate it (and that Annie IS wonderful)!
Happy Anniversary! What beautiful pics, and I love the extra story from TGH!
Now about comments, I enjoy replying to them in the blog. My blog, at the moment wont let me edit commentsa for some reason, but that way feels so much more personal to me. I can tell you alot of times if I go to someone’s blog and see no replies to comments, I dfont usualy go back LOL Sad, I know LOL
Arggh - I hope your blog is back to normal soon. That must be so frustrating. Thanks so much about everything!
It sounds like you are a lot like me - we seem to get drawn to the blogs that immediately have a personal, warm presence. I have to say though, that with some bloggers, I’ve been pleasantly surprised. Even though they don’t respond publicly in their comments area, they have responded quite warmly through email so you can’t really write them off too quickly. But I know how you feel. It can certainly have a cold feel or feel very one-sided.
i like you responding to comments right here and you guys look beautiful together. heres to you two putting up with each other for many more years
Thanks, Kaylee! I appreciate your response.
i always appreciate the response i get from bloggers when i comment on their blogs.. i just regret that sometimes, because i read so many, i forget to go back and read what people wrote to me…
Oh, Slyde - I know exactly what you mean. I forget too with all the blog reading, but every so often out of the blue it will hit me that I never saw what someone said to what I thought was my witty response so I then remember to go back and check. LOL. But I do enjoy reading everyone else’s responses too. Maybe I’m just some kind of sick voyeur (not the sexual kind, sheesh - you guys’ comments are good but not THAT good. LOL).
Teeni, I love love love seeing pictures of you! That first one is a fantastic picture, it captures the moment perfectly:-)
The comment question has been delt with and I think the best advice I have seen above is for you to do what fits you best. I always come back to see your reply, how could I not?

Happy 4 years to you and TGH!
Thank you so much, Kami! For everything! And I’m very thankful for your input.
Happy Anniversary!! I love that our anniversaries are so close - and Kami’s too!
The wedding photos are beautiful, it is lovely to put a face to the name “TGH” and to see your beautiful face again too. I’ve seen a pic of your dress (on a model) but it is even more beautiful on you - just gorgeous. You both look so happy and I wish you the happiest day ever!!! I know I’m a bit late, I haven’t been on the computer for 48h!
Aww, thank you so much, Hannah! I think it is awesome that two of my favoritest buddies have anniversaries so close to mine! A toast for all of us! Not my cat, Toast - a drink toast! You know what I mean. LOL
I hope your anniversary was fabulous, Teeni!
I love the new digs - great job!! As for the comments, I’m guilty of answering a lot of mine by email as well, but I am trying to do better about posting in the comments. Like you mentioned, it gives a community feel and facilitates further conversation! So I think you should keep posting in the comments section.
Beautiful wedding pics, btw! You’re a real beauty!
Aw, thanks so much, Tish! I don’t think there is anything wrong with what you are doing with your comments - I think that using email works for many people. And I really appreciate your input, it means a lot to me!
Nice pictures!
On comments, I try to make sure that there is an e-mail response with what I said in the comments. I check to see if the commenter is “subscribed to comments.” If they are not, I cut and paste my comment into an e-mail reply to them.
So I guess I do it both ways. Of course, I don’t have that many commenters, so it’s not that difficult.
Hi Mike! I’m so glad you found your way here! I’ve missed you. Thanks about the pictures and for the input. I think I’m gonna continue as I’ve been doing because I like the conversational feel but will use email if I think it is an important enough response.
I love that dress. It was one of my dream wedding dresses. I want another wedding dammit! Ours cost $400 and I threw it together in 3 weeks. It didn’t suck, but I want something more me. Perhaps with the next husband…
LOL. Maybe you could just renew your vows and keep the current husband? That might work too!
Such a HAPPY photo. I love it !!!
Last night I pooped out, and ran out of time …. so I popped in to see some of your older posts today after work
Commenting rocks - I never heard of responding by email (???)
I guess it works for some people. I still like commenting myself though I can see if the blog got too busy that it might be tough to keep up with. Always glad to have you popping in, Speedy. Even when you’re pooped!
