Credit Where Credit is Due

I have to do some shouting out here because lately the blogosphere has just been so kind and fun for me lately. Please read through these because there is bound to be something that interests you!
Chip Equips
I am always saying I have the best readers and that I’ve met the nicest people through blogging. Well, my friend Chip is definitely at the top of my thoughts when I think that. Here is a man who is tech-savvy, kind, cultured, talented, and generous. Yeah, I know, it’s hard not to be jealous of someone like him. LOL. But I’m so honored to count him as one of my buddies. His blog that I’ve been visiting most often is Chip’s Quips, where he shares some of his thoughts, his great writing, and also many days he includes lots of links to interesting, helpful, or just fun sites. I love how his mind works. Although his intelligence is so far above mine on an evolutionary level, he is patient, kind and respectful of me and I feel like we have a wonderful friendship. And this friend of mine goes above and beyond, let me tell you. Chip paid attention to my posts about my commenting style and took it upon himself to create an improvement to an existing plugin.
This improvement allows my visitors to click a box after leaving a comment. You all should now be able to see it under the comment box if you haven’t noticed it already. It also explains why you may have seen some test comments in my comments area. Anyway, clicking the box will cause an e-mail alert to be sent to notify the visitor when a comment has been edited. I use the edit feature when I respond to a comment so, in essence, this will alert the visitor that I’ve responded to the comments! The visitor can then turn off the notification once they have received their response, by returning to the comment screen on the appropriate post, and clicking on the “manage subscriptions” link.
I know this will help some of my readers if they are waiting for a response from me but don’t have time to keep coming back and checking (as always, I will respond via email if a critical response is needed). Anyway, I just have to give ultimate kudos to Chip for persevering through 29 emails back and forth with me while we tested this out and his patience with me for forgetting to turn his plugin ON! Duh, no wonder it wasn’t working. LOL. Now there is a true friend for you. So, please help yourself to get to know one of the better people in the blogosphere and thank him from me while enjoying his truly wonderful sites. For more techie details than I could ever explain or understand about this plugin he created and many more great ideas go to his Chip’s Tips site.
Thanks, Chip! You really did equip me to be a better blogger with this little tool. Hugs to you!
Anonymum Does the Blogosphere
Well, okay, I may be exaggerating just a bit here. Anonymum is not really “doing” the blogosphere. She’s interviewing it! And maybe it isn’t the entire “blogosphere” because well, that would be nearly impossible even for Anonymum.
But she IS interviewing her circle of blog buddies in a phenomenal way at her place. About every two days a new interview is posted at her blog. It’s a wonderful way to learn more about your blog buddies. So if you’d like to learn more about some of your buddies, or if you’d like to see some great questions and a skilled interviewer in action, then Anonymum’s Nook of Oz is the place to go. She will be featuring an interview with yours truly in the next few weeks as well. I will try and put a direct link from here to it when that gets posted, in case you are interested. It should prove to be another one of those “more-than-you-want-to-know-about-me” kind of things.
Dan Does Diseased Viral Stories
Viral doesn’t mean diseased! It means that it gets passed around or grows through word of mouth. My friend Dan over at dcr blogs (whom I admit I’ve been neglecting of late, sorry Dan), has been up to SO good (that’s right, “SO good,” not “NO good”) while I’ve been busy flitting around the blogosphere without a care in the world. Well, his site was brought back into my radar when I received an incoming link from him because of a story he had written. I swear this story included all the possible sites I think he may ever have visited or had contact with! It’s unbelievable. But unbelievably good! You really need to check it out. It’s sort of a parody based on Star Trek and is complete with commercials and everything. I almost fell out of my chair but the glue of “awe” kept me reading to see how he incorporated all the names of the sites into his story. Really. It needs to be seen. Stop reading this and go read his story at dcrblogs! I am go happy to have “rediscovered” Dan and his blog. I’ve made sure that he is in my reader now so that he can never fall off my radar again!
Great story, Dan!

Oh that is so wonderful about the edited comment notification! I always try to come back to see your response but now I will have it emailed to me
Even better!
Yay for great blogging buddies!
Chip is a cool dude. And so are all of my blog buddies. I’m so fortunate.
Thanks for the compliment and the link! Glad you enjoyed the story!
It was fantastic, Dan!
How clever! You have great blogging buddies because YOU are great Teeni!
Aw, thanks Hay. **blushes then does the happy dance**
I am feeling a bit overwhelmed with recommended blogs at the moment. It is a good way to find new people so I will take a look.
Do you ever get days when you feel you have too many blogs on your reader? I’m having one. But I can’t cull any because I like them all too much! But then again I want to do posts justice and read them properly and make proper comments. It’s a difficult balance to strike isn’t it?
If you are feeling overwhelmed then you just hit the “mark all as read” button. What you don’t see can’t bother you! And when you do start visiting from the reader again again you can always scroll back to see posts you may have missed from your favorite bloggers if you like. Or you can just move forward from there. If you think you see something you might want to refer to later, you can always even just bookmark it in your browser. But remember this - none of your blogging buddies wants you stressed, just as you don’t want them to be stressed. If there was something they think would be of great interest to you, that you may have missed, then they will let you know. It IS a difficult balance and we all want to add value. But the information superhighway is well, a superhighway, and we are all just on skateboards (some of us are just wearing moon shoes - that’s me). LOL
I like to check everyone out. I don’t think I am overblogged yet. Anonymum I now know and begged ( well I didn’t really have to beg) her to let me do the 10 questions and she kindly obliged. I love her blog. I will check out the other two. That’s cool what Chip taught you how to do.
Joan - I hope you NEVER get overblogged. You are like a blogging superstar in your own right. I can’t wait to see your interview with Anonymum. It sounds like you and she got together in a similar way that I got to know WriterChick! I begged her to let me participate in some writing assignments.
Thanks, Teeni! I’m honored to be your friend.
BTW, the checkbox was there all along (from the original “Subscribe to Comments” plugin) — I just made it include notification for comment edits.
Oh, I see. You know, I never even knew that box was there because I never commented on my site without being logged in before. I probably should do things like that every so often. My little brain can only handle so much at once though.
Ain’t blogging buddies grand? They are the best and most helpful people in the world. I will check your chums out soon. As to A-mum - she is top drawer, no question about it.
Annie
Yes, they most certainly are! I hope you get a chance to “meet” the others. I do only hang with the cool people, you know. Even if I have to force my way in! LOL

Teeni girl! Hey, this is great. I’ll check out your “shout outs”… it’s true, I don’t know how it happened but the blogn’ buds I have are, just, are just some of the best friends I’ve had… true.
They are all walks of life. I cannot believe how much the internet has brought people together. I can chat with a friend in S. Africa as if we are neighbor’s- I can always count on you for sound advise or a great perspective… I think I’ve even scored my BFF in Kentucky! It truly blows my mind. I’m not sure what you mean about the comments because I got a little jazzed up with the comprehension there, but I’m guessing it’ll become clear when I submit this comment! Thanks to Chip!
I guess I was just saying that you don’t need to pressure yourself about visiting and commenting on all blog posts in your reader. You can always skip a bunch of them or all of them if you are feeling overwhelmed. Sometimes that is what I do and then I might try and go back and see what I missed the next time I feel like commenting at that person’s blog. I hope that clarifies it.
Can’t wait to see your Q&A over at A-Mum’s. She has the knack for asking the questions that get right down to the heart of the matter.
All I will say is yes, she rips my heart out in my interview. And you know how I blabber on when I’m passionate about something. Heck, I blabber on even when I’m not, so … that’s all I’ll say. heehee.
Wow, what a neat idea! I’m commenting just so I can see how it works.
I’m also looking forward to your interview with Anonymum! I like the interviews so far and would have asked her to interview me except that I’m new to her blog and don’t know if she even knows who I am.
Aww, make yourself known over there! She will welcome you with open arms. How do you think I got together with her? I just kinda wandered over, started my usual babbling in the comments area and even though I’m a newbie to her site, she took me right in. I can’t see how she’d resist you! So, I hope this commenting thing works for you!
