Even More Revelations

Posted on July 16, 2008 - Filed Under Contest, picture post

I guess I’ve been too hard on you all. This is not a trick and it IS a real place that I went to! Some of you have insinuated that I really didn’t go anywhere and just took photos of travel magazines or something but I assure you, that is not the case. ;)

These pictures I have saved for last because they may be the most telling. If nobody guesses correctly by the end of the day then I will reveal the location because I don’t want to torture you for too long, as fun as it has been for me. Muhaha. Oh, and don’t pay any attention to the little Meez on the right (she doesn’t need the encouragement). I just gave her a whack over the head with Joan’s cane for being so fresh. She’ll be fine … eventually.

I dunno know. And I think you might want to let your poor meez sit down! She’s gonna trip and twist her ankle or something.

    Oh, and I loved your interview… :)

LOL. She’ll be okay. She had rest for over two weeks. Thanks so much about the interview and for staying awake long enough to read it! :)

    What do I win?

Zero! You win zero. Sorry. Try again.

  12. Slyde (99 comments.) on July 17th, 2008 8:39 am

    South America? brazil-like?

Nope. I think Brazil was already guessed. Try again.

    Oops…Paige got it first.

    So I’ll go with Italy.

LOL. Nope, but another place I’d like to see. :)

  17. dcr (115 comments.) on July 17th, 2008 9:26 am

These photos were supposed to give it away! As though we would just look at them and say something like, gee, those must be the Canary Islands.

I said they would be more “telling.” But I guess not enough. Hmmm.

  18. Calamity (121 comments.) on July 17th, 2008 9:47 am

    France

You are the first to guess France but nope, it’s not that either. ;)

  19. dcr (115 comments.) on July 17th, 2008 10:07 am

Well, Turkey has natural thermal baths. Is it Turkey? It was Turkey, wasn’t it? You had us all fooled, thinking it was South America while it was Turkey all along. What do I win?

No, no, no. Have you had enough yet?

  20. B.E. Earl (79 comments.) on July 17th, 2008 10:10 am

    My last official guees…

…nowhere. You are just having some fun with us!

    What do I win?

WRONG! It’s a real place and I was there! I really would not be that mean to you guys!

  21. B.E. Earl (79 comments.) on July 17th, 2008 10:11 am

    No wait…

    Sri Lanka!

    Nope!

  22. Calamity (121 comments.) on July 17th, 2008 10:17 am

    Peru?

    Nope!

  23. dcr (115 comments.) on July 17th, 2008 10:19 am

Britain. You took some of the pictures at some horticultural exhibit. And you went to a museum. And Britain has a natural thermal bath too.

You make me out to be meaner than I really am! LOL, but no!

  24. Calamity (121 comments.) on July 17th, 2008 10:23 am

    Portugal?

Calamity! You! Are! The! Winner! Woo-hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can’t believe nobody guessed this before. Specifically, I visited some of the Azores islands of Portugal. I will post more about it later because I’m running out but when I saw the winning answer here I had to respond! Congratulations to Calamity and thanks to everyone, especially B.E. Earl and Dan for all their great guesses!

  25. dcr (115 comments.) on July 17th, 2008 10:43 am

See. I was getting closer. I told you I would get it if someone else didn’t beat me to it. I was right!

    Congrats to Calamity.

It must feel good to have been right after all those wrongs, huh Dan? ;) You guys did great, I guess little old Portugal just isn’t an obvious vacation spot.

  26. Calamity (121 comments.) on July 17th, 2008 10:50 am

Woot!!! I told you I would figure it out!!! LOL Im stubborn that way LOL Thanks for the fun Miss.Teens!

I actually started thinking oh, wouldn’t it be funny if Calamity just started guessing and got it after all of Dan and Earl’s globe-trotting, and you DID! Nice job!

  27. B.E. Earl (79 comments.) on July 17th, 2008 11:19 am

I think I get the assist for moving over to Europe with my Spain guess.

    What do I win? ;)

LOL. You are a true optimist. I could learn from you. I even gave you a hint before when I answered you with “Nada.” Because that means nothing in both Spanish AND Portuguese! ;)

  28. joanharvest (47 comments.) on July 17th, 2008 11:26 am

I have to laugh because I just came here to put in Azores. I was looking at that wooden thing and realized it was for wine so I did a search and put in wine, pineapples, bananas cobblestones and hot springs and came up with the Azores. But that’s OK. It was fun doing research on all the different places. I learned a lot about a lot of places in the past couple of days. Congrats to Calamity. This was a lot of fun Teeni. You need to go on vacation again so we can do this again.

LOL. Aw, well, you couldn’t have lost to a sweeter blogger. I’m glad you had fun and boy do I wish I could go on vacation again but probably not for a long time. Those darn things are expensive! ;)

  29. dcr (115 comments.) on July 17th, 2008 12:45 pm

@B.E. Earl: Hey, wait just a minute. You’re the one that deduced we should be guessing a South American country. So your “assist” to Europe only offsets your handicapping us to South America. It balances out. You get nothing like the rest of us. ;-)

LOL. You two were very funny during this contest. I’m so glad you participated. :) Thanks!

  30. B.E. Earl (79 comments.) on July 17th, 2008 1:26 pm

@dcr - I’m not saying my logic is perfect, but I EVENTUALLY got to the right area. ;)

Oh, and I was gonna go to the Middle East and SouthEast Asia next. Figure I would hit on all corners of the globe. A greenhouse in Anarctica was gonna come after that. :)

Thanks for joining in Earl. It was a lot of fun (for ME anyway)! :D

  31. dcr (115 comments.) on July 17th, 2008 2:05 pm

@B.E. Earl: Well, I beat you to the Middle East with my Turkey guess. And, it was a turkey of a guess, but I digress… Though before Britain, I was thinking of Gibraltar, which would have been very close.

What do I win for almost closeness?

Um, you win close to an almost prize? Congratulations? ;)

  32. dcr (115 comments.) on July 17th, 2008 2:45 pm

Yay! Will it be gift-wrapped? ;-)

LOL. Yes, it will be nearly gift-wrapped! :)

  33. kaylee (476 comments.) on July 17th, 2008 2:47 pm

Portugal? Ummmm I will never go there ;)

Never say never - it’s a fabulous place. You’d love it.

  34. kaylee (476 comments.) on July 17th, 2008 3:45 pm

but how would I get there? me and planes= a nightmare waiting tho happen.

Yeah, they are scary but I know you’ve used them before so you could do it again. It would be worth it for the wonderful relaxing vacation on the other end!

  35. Leaf, pobably.com (30 comments.) on July 17th, 2008 3:47 pm

Ah no! I was just about to say portugal! oh well!

Aw, sorry Leaf! But you did lose to a nice person so that is some consolation. :)

  36. birdpress (83 comments.) on July 17th, 2008 3:53 pm

Portugal? If that was guessed already, I didn’t see it or anything. I just decided to come back here quick and throw out another guess, all by myself, that I just came up with now. What do I win?

Aww, man. See Calamity’s comment number 24. She beat you. Sorry.

  37. dcr (115 comments.) on July 17th, 2008 4:09 pm

I didn’t see anybody guess Portugal either. What happens in the event of a three-way tie?

Comment 24 had it! There’s no tie. Sorry. You guys are funny and don’t give up easy. I like that. Gotta give you credit. :)

  38. kaylee (476 comments.) on July 17th, 2008 4:37 pm

    yes it would!

  39. birdpress (83 comments.) on July 17th, 2008 5:01 pm

    Cool, so you’re saying it’s a three-way tie then? I can’t wait to see what I win! :D

Oh, you guys are just incorrigible! But you’re fun too! LOL

  40. writerchick (32 comments.) on July 17th, 2008 6:00 pm

    congrats to calamity.
    WC

She just waltzed in and stole the prize! LOL.

  41. Merri (30 comments.) on July 17th, 2008 6:38 pm

    Hey congrats miss Calamity!!!!
I never even THOUGHT of Portugal, but it makes such sense..
    I WANT to go there!
I have been all around it but not there directly..lol.
    You teaser, miss Teeni!!
    ;)

I thought it would’ve been guessed on the first day! But I’m glad that it caught on like it did. It was fun. :) Merri, you would love it - although I can only speak for the islands and not the main land of Portugal. I’ll have to get there someday too.

  42. Evyl (102 comments.) on July 17th, 2008 10:06 pm

Is that a butter churner in that pic?

No, it’s a wine press! I even had some wine while I was there that I think was made on that press! Pretty cool, huh?

  43. dcr (115 comments.) on July 17th, 2008 10:07 pm

Comment 24 says something about a portly gal. Have you had your vision checked lately? I think birdpress and I tied. :-)

Oh, you guys are too funny. I really needed some laughs so even though you all are nuts, I’m appreciating it very much! :)

  44. dcr (115 comments.) on July 17th, 2008 10:08 pm

You do realize that this is just going to keep going on and on and on until you give us a new post to comment on.

Oh, I’m a little slow I guess - I’m working on a new one right NOW!

  45. kelly (1 comments.) on July 17th, 2008 10:25 pm

    LOL Teeni!!

I assumed it would be Sth American because you live (I think!) in the US. But it did have a European feel to it with the wine / port barrels and the cobbled street. Congrats to Calamity - and you have some very funny readers here… I’ve had a giggle: definitely not a competitive bunch are they??!! LOL

Hi Kelly and welcome to the Vaguetarian Tea Room. I’m glad you picked up on the European flair! And yes, I have some very funny readers. I think there is something in the air though as they have been chattier than normal. LOL. I do have the best bunch though and they make me giggle too - I wouldn’t trade them for anything. :)

  46. The Girl from the Ghetto (15 comments.) on July 17th, 2008 10:25 pm

    Well, hell, someone already guessed.

Yeah, but some of my readers are just in denial! LOL

  47. birdpress (83 comments.) on July 18th, 2008 5:40 am

    So, um… is it Alaska?

LOL. Okay, I’m working on a new post. Thanks for all the giggles. Hugs to you! :)

  48. CuriousC (69 comments.) on July 18th, 2008 8:28 am

How fun! the Azores… and I was just looking at beautiful black & white photos of the Azores while at the New Bedford Whaling Museum… Your photos didn’t look like those so that’s what tripped me up. So you recommend this as a vacay spot, yes?

I would DEFINITELY recommend it but unfortunately with the exchange rate right now it is quite expensive. At least from the U.S. It’s not someplace TGH and I could afford to do every year. I will post more about it though, now that it has been guessed.

  49. Kami (321 comments.) on July 18th, 2008 8:43 pm

I missed all the guessing but you know what? I NEVER would have guessed Portugal so that’s okay ;-)

congrats to Calamity and to Teeni for another great contest ;-)

I thought that the winner was only going to get it through the process of elimination. LOL. After all there are only so many countries and they guessed almost all the others already. ;) Just kidding. Calamity did good and it was a lot of fun, thanks to the people who joined in. :)

  50. Melsie (53 comments.) on July 21st, 2008 8:24 am

Those are some beautiful photos Teeni! I hope you had a great vacation!

Oh, I did, Melsie! Thanks so much! I wish we could do something like that every year, but well, we just can’t. It was worth saving up for though! :)

  51. Mike Goad (62 comments.) on July 31st, 2008 8:22 pm

Guess it wouldn’t do any good for me to make a guess at this late date, huh?

Sorry, Mike! LOL. But hey, it gave me lots of ideas for future contests on my blog. ;)
