Beach Blanket Blog Babes

Posted on August 28, 2008 - Filed Under Meets

Well, I’ve been slow in getting around to my visiting and commenting for the last couple of days because I have been busy with various little things like getting a hair cut, applying for a job that had a misleading job description, and most importantly, getting together with two fellow Massachutian (I think I just made up that word) bloggers on the Cape!!!!!

beach bloggers

CuriousC, Joan Harvest and I all got together and enjoyed a wonderful lunch on the beach! The lunch consisted of sandwiches made by Joan, with drinks provided by CuriousC, and fruit salad by yours truly. We ate under C’s umbrella and she was kind enough to bring along two chairs so I didn’t have to sit on the just my towel. What fun it was to meet in real life some of the personalities that I interact with daily in the blogosphere! They were both as funny, smart, and beautiful as I always imagined them to be. We had some good laughs and a beautiful afternoon. The seagulls must have known how hungry I was because they knew better than to bother us today. :)

C presented Joan and I with some beautiful handmade notecards that she made using photographs she had taken herself. Leave it to Curious to do something so sweet and thoughtful. I will treasure them. Thank you, C! And I can totally see why Joan’s daughter, Sarah, would want her mom to continue making her sandwiches for lunch when she goes to work. After eating her delicious, organic, and healthy sandwich today, I want her to continue to make mine to! ;) We discussed such serious issues as how to pronounce the word “meme,” how to survive a hot flash, and how good food is in general, among other things. ;)

Seriously, there aren’t enough words to describe how wonderful it was to meet these fellow bloggers. We all agreed we would like to do it again. If there are any other bloggers who are in the area and want to join in the next time, let us know! Next suggested meeting agenda will be a discussion of crock pot cooking tactics and recipes, eye-candy judging contest, and how to achieve world piece (of pie)! LOL.

The photo above is from the parking lot where CuriousC and I parted with Joan. We had to have a little group hug and show you our dumbasses and wind-blown hair before we went to return C to her home and me to my car. :) Now I’ve got to go make some more barefoot sandals! Don’t be the last on your blog to get some. LOL.

Go here to see CuriousC’s post about our meet, and go here to see Joan’s! Bonus - they have better pics at their sites than I do! For some reason I get too excited when first meeting people to take good photos. But I know I won’t forget such a special day whether I have photos or not! Today was a very good day. Thank you. :)

oMG I so want to meet you guys but, who wants a pesky, snarky teenager around? Glad you guys had fun!

Don’t be pesky or snarky and you don’t have to worry about it, right? ;)

  2. kaylee (471 comments.) on August 28th, 2008 9:51 pm

Wait since when diod you want a job?????

  3. Evyl (91 comments.) on August 28th, 2008 10:07 pm

That’s cool. Glad to see that y’all hit it off.

Thanks, Evyl. It was kind of hard not to hit it off - those two are such a pleasant and fun couple of bloggers. Really, there was hardly any awkwardness at all.

  4. Kami (308 comments.) on August 28th, 2008 10:14 pm

Oh how fun! Sounds like you covered the most important topics ladies and I really do need to know how to survive a hot flash! At 34 they are nasty, I am very scared of the future ones…..

    :-)

LOL. Kami, I hear that some people don’t really even get them so I’ll hope that for you! :)

You girls are so very lucky! Looks like you had a great day…and wow, no seagulls stealing your sandwiches?!

Ooo…and I love the barefoot sandals…you crafty gal, you!

Thanks, 2LD! And we did have a lovely day. Yup - even the seagulls on their best behavior. We are that awesome. LOL. :)

Oh, I am insanely jealous of both you & Joan right now! You are too funny with your “photos from behind”. We want to see your face, girl!
But seriously, I’m SOOOO glad that you had a good time meeting up with your blogging friends … Joan’s sammies sound awesome! And how sweet of “C” to make you those special gifts.

As for the job interview … sounds very interesting, is it worthy of a post on it’s own?!

I think the job interview is worth a mini post. I may put a photo up sometime soon so you can see my face. I’m so picky though because I really had my looks and weight change so drastically in such a short time that I’m not used to it. I’m working on it though.

Aww, this is such a darling photo, I really love it! You guys are so lucky! SO lucky to live close enough to meet up. I don’t know any bloggers that live close, and the ones I’d die to meet are way too far away :( That is the only downfall I can think of to blogging…

This is such a great post, made me happy to see you all getting the chance to connect!

Aww, JQ - I’m sorry you don’t have any blog buddies closer to you right now but that can always change, right? You may meet more and who knows where everyone will be in a few years. Also, if there is ever any chance of travel on your part of your buddy’s parts, something can be arranged. I know I’m contacting YOU if I’m ever going to be in your neighborhood and I do hope to travel more in my future! :)

OH my gosh, three of my all time favorite bloggers in one place and I’m stuck in stinky ol’ California. Big bummer. It sounds like you had a great time honey. I’m so glad. I do think that eventually we are all going to manage to meet each other - I”m going to the cape next year, maybe we can find Teeni and C when we detour over to Joan’s? That would tre’s fun, eh?
    Love
    Annie

Oh, I’ll definitely find my way back down to the Cape again if I know my Annie’s gonna be there. :) :) :)

    What a wonderful afternoon!!

It was a lot of fun. I wish I could meet more of my buddies all at once but we’ll have to arrange a convention or something.

  10. kaylee (471 comments.) on August 29th, 2008 12:33 am

Wait Annie is going to the cape next year too jeez that’s great I will be there too and Joan already wants to take me to the beach lol!

Well, that would be cool. I would definitely have to crash that party!

Yup - it’s me in the middle! We live within two hours of each other. I had a long ride to meet up with them but it was well worth it. :) And definitely I foresee a big beach party in the future!!

Wish you could have joined us, Peter! Maybe someday, I hope. :)

I love the photo! It turned out great, didn’t it!?

Well, it’s a little darker than I thought it would be but I’m not a photographer and the fact that all three of us are in it, is good enough for me. I will email you and Joan a couple of other shots.

[…] it all and Teeni (that Beach Blanket Blog Babe) adds a few more of the juicy details, as well as our group photo, so all I’ll do is present a few more […]

How wonderful for all of you!
    Do it more often.

I really do hope to, Witchypoo. :)

How exciting I love the cape - my oldest son’s granny & pop pop live on the cape. I visit them about every five years. I think we are trying to make it out there next summer or this year- since my oldest will be out of the house soon. My favorite thing besides my ex inlaws on the Cape is whale watching! I want to take my MOM!

Why did you flit out of the pictures like a little fairy (as per the other blogs)? We only get to see your Meez?

Oh Michelle, you will have to contact me if you are coming out this way - I’d love to meet up! I flit out of the pictures because sometimes I’m just not feeling confident about the way I look. My looks have changed a lot since my diagnosis and treatment and sometimes I’m shocked when I see myself. It’s probably just me but I’m trying to get better about it. And yeah, my Meez is much better looking so be glad for that. ;)

  17. Mike Goad (59 comments.) on August 29th, 2008 8:05 am

Let’s see. I bet you’re the one in the middle?

Yup - I’m in the middle. CuriousC to my left and Joan to my right. :)

  18. joanharvest (94 comments.) on August 29th, 2008 8:17 am

I absolutely love this photo. Considering what you went through to get it right, you did a great job. I am ganking it right off your blog so I can put it in my album at home.

You wrote a beautiful and funny post about our day and I love how you described the photo. Ha! Ha!

It was a fun day wasn’t it? Next year at the beach it seems like we may have a few others joining us. That would be awesome.

LOL - yeah, it was a bit of trouble for this one. I thought it was a little darker than I hoped but heck, it has the three of us in it and that is what is important! It was a great time and looks like it could be a big party next year. We may have to rent a place! ;)

  19. Beth Ellen (217 comments.) on August 29th, 2008 8:49 am

Sounds like a fun time! :) I am rather amazed that you would eat every body’s food though…

Why? I don’t think any one of us was into poisoning the others especially since we all had loved ones who knew where we were going to be and with whom. It wouldn’t be hard to trace back. You must be even more skeptical than I am!

If y’all ever head down to GA, look me up :D

You got it! And I would definitely love to visit Georgia sometime. It sounds beautiful! :)

  21. Slyde (92 comments.) on August 29th, 2008 10:20 am

thats soo cool! the only blogger i have ever met is Earl, and he sucks..

I bet you’ll meet some real live bloggers besides Earl soon. I keep meaning to ask if you two knew each other before blogging or if you met through blogging. If you already mentioned it somewhere then I missed it (or I forgot - cuz yeah, THAT never happens).

  22. honeywine (73 comments.) on August 29th, 2008 11:33 am

I hope I get to meet some of ya’ll some day. You lucky ducks! :)

I’d love to get to meet you! You never know - I want to travel more so maybe someday TGH and I will hit the whole country in an RV or something. Well, maybe not all in one trip. ;)

  23. kelly (11 comments.) on August 29th, 2008 3:31 pm

Oh how fun! It is great isn’t it to meet up with people IRL that you have developed friendships through the blogasphere? I know I’ve enjoyed the company of a few people over the past year now. The first time we did it though, it did have the feel of a group blind date…. safe enough though because at least 3 of us had the kiddos accompanying us! LOL.

LOL - a group blind date is a great way to describe those first jitters. :) But it really is wonderful to meet up with these people and finally meet them.

  24. dcr (96 comments.) on August 29th, 2008 4:08 pm

I knew you were the one in the middle even before Mike mentioned it. I guess I should have read the comments first and saved the time trying to figure out which one was you by process of elimination. ;-)

No get together opportunities around here, I’m afraid. I think I’m the only non-political blogger in this part of Ohio. ;-)

LOL. Awww, sorry, Dan. I guess you will just have to vacation out here next summer at Cape Cod to meet with a bunch of non-political bloggers. I’d love to meet you someday and see if you look like that creepy avatar. LOL.

  25. birdpress (74 comments.) on August 29th, 2008 6:14 pm

I wish you’d show that picture from the opposite side! :P

Like I said on Joan’s blog, I’m very happy for you and very jealous!

Aww, sorry, Birdpress. I didn’t want to scare you off though. Maybe sometime I’ll get brave enough to show my face around these parts.

  26. kaylee (471 comments.) on August 29th, 2008 7:34 pm

wait so thats 4 people that i know that are going to the cape next year must be the place to be? ;)

It will be the hoppingest place in the blogosphere. ;)

  27. Wendy (32 comments.) on August 31st, 2008 8:34 am

This was so cool! I loved reading this, and I loved that you guys got together for a beach lunch. You guys rock.:P

Were your ears ringing, Wendy? We were wishing you were there!!!! We missed you.

  28. The Girl from the Gheto (13 comments.) on September 1st, 2008 6:39 pm

I’m so jealous, mainly because you guys not only met and must live by each other, but you also live by the ocean! Ugh! After reading Joan’s blog, why wouldn’t you pose for pictures? I do like the back photo of you all, how fun!

Hey GG! Well, I live a couple hours from the ocean but it’s drivable so I can’t complain. I can understand the jealousy - Joan and CuriousC are a great and fun couple of bloggers. It was a really nice treat to meet them in person.

As for the pictures, I don’t pose for many pictures because I am not always comfortable with my looks. They have changed a lot in a short time because of my surgeries and chemo and sometimes I am shocked when I see the short, fat little troll in the picture. I am trying to get over it - I don’t think I’m hideous or anything but I sure don’t feel pretty very often. You may see some pics in the future. I’ve done a few in the past but I haven’t made them very obvious.

  29. odette (52 comments.) on September 2nd, 2008 5:37 pm

wow, congratulations on you three, you certainly took blogging to many notches higher! :)

great composition on the picture, i can imagine what a grand time you had. :)

LOL - we had a great time! It’s funny how a lot of the talk was about how cool it would be to meet so many others of our friends. Maybe someday, I always hope. :)
