Art at the Sculpture Park
Posted on August 30, 2008 - Filed Under Real Art
A couple of weeks ago, TGH and I took a little day trip to the Decordova Sculpture Park and Museum in Lincoln, MA. Here are just a few (20 total) pictures from our trip but you really should try and get there yourself if you are ever in the neighborhood. It’s a great place to spend some time outdoors, meandering over the beautiful property and viewing all the sculptures. Really enjoy art? The museum offers additional exhibits and classes indoors.

Awww, a pic just for me. LOVE it. Also the chicken. I could spend some serious hours there taking pictures with Jack. Thanks for sharing Teeni!
I couldn’t help it - I was so excited to finally find something in nature that was heart shaped - I had to grab it just for you even though it was a bit blurry. Well, sometimes I’m a bit blurry myself so I figured that just made it more special coming from me. LOL.
Thanks for showing the pictures, the slide show you created was seamless - very quick, how’d you do that Teens?
I like the sharks
Thanks JavaQueen! I used a free software called Picasa - it’s very easy to use - you can get it here!
The sharks were kind of funny, the way they were “swimming” around over our heads in the forest.
Great Pictures Teeni. Yes I could spend hours there to. I like the hand on hand picture. I love the love heart sculptures. It looks like quiet an amazing place showing some great art work. Your pictures coming up in a new window was so cool. I love telling stories with pictures, Maybe I could learn how to do that at some point.
Pictures & Smiles

Thanks, Di! Of course you can learn how to do it - it’s very simple or I wouldn’t be able to do it. I used a free program called Picasa which allows you to make slideshows and create albums on the web. Once you create a slideshow you can grab the embed code and put it on your blog page. I’d love to see slideshows from bloggers whenever they visit someplace cool.
Pretty cool. I’ve always been an art lover, but never done much are museum/gallery hopping. A lazy art lover I guess.
But an art lover all the same. Thanks Teeni.
You know, I think I’m the lazy kind myself Peter - what a great way to describe it. I was never much for museums or galleries either but now I actually am starting to enjoy it quite a bit. There are still many pieces I don’t understand or think are just silliness. But I’m getting better at appreciating stuff and not laughing out loud. But I still enjoy a good giggle when I see something goofy. I’ll never be too serious about it - what fun would that be?
Wow, what a cool place!! I would love to visit myself, but that dream is a *little* lofty right now (unless anyone’s got a few grand to spare …)
I love the photos. That face in the hedge was spooky! The chicken and hand are very cool. But the camera is my favourite! Awesome!
Someday, Hannah, I hope. But in the meantime I bet there are lots of great museums in NZ. I’ll have to task you to go and take pics for us so you can share on your blog!
Nice images. Looks like a nice place to visit!
It was a great place to visit. I’m glad we went. We had seen signs all over for it that we always drove by and we finally made a point to go see what it was all about.
Thanks for sharing. I especially enjoyed the pool sculptures.
The water ones were my favorites too. So relaxing. *sigh*
The one with feet is actually kinda creepy don’t ya’ think?
Seems like a great place to visit.
Yes, that one was pretty creepy - there was a simulation of it walking around on video inside the museum. -Eeep!
These are REALLY nifty! I love sculpture gardens. I’m puttin’ it on my list of “things to do in Mass someday.”
You would get some great shots!
Hey that’s pretty cool. I should add that to my to do list…
I’m gonna have so many things for you to do that you and your hubby are just gonna have to move down here in order to do them all!
I will keep an eye open for real estate in my neighborhood for you.
Wow Teeni, great post and the graphics are mind blowing. Keep them coming. They are very entertaining. All the best.
Thanks, Rummy! I like to try and keep it interesting over here! LOL.
Nifty. I like the one by the stream.
That one is one of my faves too!
The head lying on the ground should be named ‘Hangover’.
LOL - that is perfect! It kinda freaked me out having a huge head on the ground looking up at me like that.
This is so weird - my partner and I went to our local sculpture park the other day and found all the sculptures gone and no explanation! All the trees had been thinned drastically as well. Hope they’re not planning to build houses on the Chiltern Sculpture Trail. Might need to come and use yours Teeni!
Oooh - Laura - I hope they are just updating the exhibits or something. That is so strange. If you want to come use mine, you just let me know - I would love to go there again and accompany you!
oh love those pictures
Thank you - these ones came out pretty good.
only cause theu werent pictures of you
no just kidding! I love you no matter how you look
HAHA! Hey - I don’t see any self portraits over at your site.
Wow those pictures are awesome! We have a sculpture walk at the botanical gardens here in Wellington, but I can only ever find three sculptures. It’s really not much of a walk at all.
That’s weird. Three sculptures doesn’t sound like a very long walk. But botanical gardens usually have beautiful flowers and plants to look at too so maybe that is what they are focusing on?
Thats because right now i aint pretty
Great sculptures! Love those sort of open air art spaces.
Here’s travel tip for you: if you EVER find yourself in Antwerp, Belgium, take a stroll through Middleheim. It’s got all sorts of statues and scultures through the park - and is considered an open air museum. Plus it’s got a fantastic cafe that serve great coffees and beers (oh and good food too LOL).
Wow! Thanks for the tip, Kelly! I do hope to get there someday and that open air museum sounds wonderful. So do the coffee, beer, and food.
Put all those things together and you’ve got a great day planned! Love it!
i’m all for art too, i enjoyed the little trip through your pics.
some are funny, some are weird, but all of them very artistic and unique!
I never had much of an interest when I was younger but I think I have grown an appreciation for it over the years. Of course, any excuse to be outside in a pretty setting is good too!
