Five Things Meme Twisted Into a Handwriting Meme

Posted By Teeni on December 7, 2008

I’m very behind on memes so I apologize for being late on these things.  I’m working on whacking them out.  Here’s one.  Oh, and I did put in the separate page for the Blog Friendship Box that you will find in the tabs at the top of the page!

Dan over at dcrblogs tagged me for this meme where you have to five things for each of the following headings.  I found out by reading HIS meme that we both like Nachos!  LOL.  Does anyone NOT like nachos, I wonder?

5 Things I Was Doing 10 Years Ago:

  1. Running away from a previous life/Looking for Myself
  2. Grieving the Loss of My Favorite Pet
  3. Working in a Job I hated
  4. Taking care of an ill parent
  5. Helping care for four teenage cousins

5 Things on My To-Do List Today:

5 Things I Would Do if I Was a Millionaire:

5 People I Tag (Please continue reading to see the twist of this meme):

Caryn at Sari-Saring Kulay

Debo, at DeboHobo dot com, who recently named me as one of her top five coolest blogs!  I can’t tell you how honored and flattered that made me feel!  If you haven’t checked her out, let me tell you that she’s an awesome person that you can’t help but become endeared to.

One of my oldest buds (in blogging, NOT age!), Merri Merri, at Merrily We Roll Along,

The certifiable yet lovable Speedcat Hollydale,

a great writer and friend, Bobby Revell at Revellian.com,

my good blog buddy, Paige at Eat, Bitch and Whine,

and finally, yet least of all leastly, my good buddy Hay at Where Karma Meets Camera .

Okay, now here’s the twist:

I think we’ve all seen this meme come around or similar versions of it and if you are like me, you’re getting a little tired of it.  LOL.  So let’s just change it up completely.  I’m gonna turn it into a handwriting meme for those of you that I have tagged.  All you have to do is write a short (or as long as you like) post in your own handwriting and take a photo of it and post that!  Then, tag away as you see fit.  Here is my contribution because I wouldn’t ask it of you if I weren’t willing to do it myself.  Good luck reading my hieroglyphics!  Click to make bigger.

handwriting

The transcript is:

This is my handwriting post.  I am taking my time because if I go too fast, it will not be legible.

The other day I attempted to write all my uppercase cursive letters the way we did back in school.  I actually couldn’t remember how to do some of them.  I guess I’ve changed them to suit my needs over the years and some of them have become sort of hybrids - a cross between cursive and printing.

If any of you are good at handwriting analysis - feel free to let me know what you can tell about my me from my atrocious handwriting!  :)

    Such a fun meme!!

Hey VeggieGirl! I hope you will steal this one and do it if you like. I admit I feel bad tagging you because I know you are so busy but I certainly don’t ever want to exclude you!!!

  2. Hannah (413 comments.) says:

This was fun to read! I didn’t know you used to be a technical writer - I think that means we have a lot more in common than I already knew about :-)
I’ve only lived in one place all my life too. Quite neat, but a little scary as well considering how much some people move!

I LOVE your handwriting, and I feel very lucky to have receive some of my very own samples of it!

I don’t feel confident any longer to write technically after being out of the loop so long but it was a job I liked. I just wish it had been about more interesting stuff. I wrote for computer programs and database applications. LOL. I always used to feel bad for kids who had to move a lot because that seemed odd to me but now, I can see why adults enjoy travelling and seeing new places. When we do it because we want to see the world it is different than when we are kids and want to make friends and stay with them. I would love to live in a new place every year the way I feel now. Just to experience it. How cool would that be. :)

  3. kaylee (456 comments.) says:

    You write well

    Thank you.

  4. B.E. Earl (84 comments.) says:

I can barely even sign my name in cursive anymore. I can’t imagine trying to write an actual sentence in cursive.

It’s funny, I thought it would all come back to me but for the life of me I don’t remember how to do a capital P or Q. LOL. Good thing I don’t need THOSE very often. ;)

  5. Ginger Magnolia (37 comments.) says:

Wow, you’ve had a wide range of jobs! I’ve never seen the handwriting meme before. Cool!

LOL. Yeah, I’m a Jane of all Trades but a Master of None. Sad. Oh well. I’m sure it’s probably been done before but I just came up with the handwriting meme. Feel free to steal it if you like! :)

  6. Eric "Speedcat Hollydale" (118 comments.) says:

Thanks for thinking of me Teeni!

I love your “twist” to this meme. Good luck to everyone reading my writing … LOL!!!

I LOVE fruit and yougurt with a passion - and add granola to mine, and your job history seems to be as erratic as my own.
This will be done this week my friend :-)

Nice to see you @twitter on my way home. Really cool how you can connect from anywhere now days.

    Happy Week Teeni !!

Howdy Speedy! Don’t copy what I wrote exactly for the meme though - that would be cheating. But maybe you could write about fruit and yogurt since we both like that. LOL. :)

  7. Peter Parkour (107 comments.) says:

Ten years ago I had just gotten out of prison. :) My handwriting sucks. I only print. I started doing that when I was still in high school. I don’t even print all that well. I sure am glad I took typing back in high school. Unfortunately I don’t even type all that well. Now days it would seem my fingers have minds of their own. More often than not I don’t make typos… I type completely different words than I intended to. I hate it when that happens. I also leave a lot of words out. I think that comes from thinking faster than I can type. :P Nice job, Teeni, on the meme and the handwriting. ;)

I think you type very well! Hey - I do that thing too where I leave words out or type something different than I meant to - sometimes I think the old brain goes on autopilot or something. LOL. Thanks, Peter! :)

  8. birdpress (114 comments.) says:

I think you have nice handwriting. I’m with Mr. Parkour - I only print! I’m sure I don’t remember how to write everything like we did in grade school either.

You should blog about each of the things you did ten years ago. They all sound like things that might be interesting to hear more about. :)

Thank you about the handwriting. Well, I don’t know how personal I want to get about the first item - It was more about my divorce and me not feeling comfortable in my own skin, not liking myself, not seeing things the way other people did, and not knowing how to deal with things. It was a lonely and unhappy time for me. My ex was actually a nice guy but I couldn’t see things then like I can now. I now know more about some physical issues that may have been partially responsible for a lot of my feelings back then. But who knows - maybe I will find a way to write about it sometime that doesn’t feel wrong or hurt anyone.

  9. Bobby Revell (74 comments.) says:

As much as I would like to do this meme, I don’t own a digital camera, just a 35mm. I do like Salt and Vinegar Potato chips though! I failed technical writing because I had to write a mock up resume to fictional job. My teacher gave me a 0 because the job I chose was incredibly offensive to my him and apparently, I was the only one who “made a mockery of his assignment.”

I have such a hard time picturing you getting a zero on ANY writing project. LOL. But that’s fine if you can’t do the meme then just consider this a free link! :)

  10. pearl (17 comments.) says:

OMG, this is like deja_vu teeni.. I thought about doing a handwriting post just a few days ago ‘coz I’d been going through my delicious tags and found this HandWritten Blogs .. I’ve been in very few jobs so it’s all boring and my handwriting has really deteriorated over the years ‘coz of computers I think.. i hardly ever handwrite anything.. I’d do this one, fun and creative :)

PS: Bobby cracks me up lol

Pearl that was a cool link - I had no idea that group existed! Boy the things people think of. Well, please go ahead and steal this meme, Pearl! I would love to see your handwriting! :)

  11. Debo Hobo (72 comments.) says:

I completed the meme, but ummm…I twisted it up as well…I hope you don’t mind ;)

Mind? Heck NO! I lOVE what you’ve done with it! Everybody - check out Debo’s meme response! Meleah was right - you are sofa king adorable!

  12. Memarie Lane (41 comments.) says:

Your handwriting looks a lot like my mom’s; very feminine and precise. Hers was drilled into her at a Catholic school by evil knuckle-cracking nuns.

Oh, wow - I never heard it described as feminine and precise. I guess that’s better than my usual chicken scratch then. LOL. Yikes. Thank goodness I didn’t have evil knuckle-cracking nuns. I learned mine in public school.

  13. iamthediva (118 comments.) says:

geeze, i haven’t been here in so long, sorry! i mean, i read you from my feeder, but i haven’t stopped in to say hello in so long my computer forgot who i am, usually all the fields are filled in for me. lol. sigh. time. :D

Anyway, i love how you’re always so generous with your hypothetical millions. if ever anyone should be handed millions it should be you. :D Also, you have fine handwriting. I love seeing people’s hand writing, especially in this electronic world!

It’s always easy to be generous with the money when you don’t really have it! LOL. I wonder if I would be if I really had it. Hey we could do an experiment if everyone would just donate some money to me until I have millions and then we’ll see if I really do all that stuff. LOL. ;)

Thanks about the handwriting. That was me really making an effort to make it legible though. Someday maybe I’ll show the rushed version. I’m with you though, I do enjoy seeing the handwriting which is why I loved when you posted some of your journals. :)

  14. sheng (56 comments.) says:

I love your penmanship, it’s very neat.

Thank you, Sheng. It’s hard work for me to make it neat. But it’s worth it so you can be able to read it! :)

  15. joanharvest (22 comments.) says:

My handwriting is horrible. Yours looked good, though. Did you get snow the other day? Leave it to you to make a meme more interesting. I can’t even print well. Sometimes I will make a food list and get to the store and I can’t read half of what’s on the list. Makes for some interesting suppers.

Thank you about the handwriting. We did get a bit of snow the other day. It really didn’t stick though. Ah - LOL - I do that with my lists all the time. The sad thing is I know shorthand so I should just do that. LOL @ interesting suppers. ;)

  16. jen (6 comments.) says:

i DO enjoy me some good Teeni handwriting! Also didn’t know those things about you!

Aw, thanks Jen. i’d love to see yours too! Feel free to steal this meme if you are up to doing it!

  17. Michelle Gartner (53 comments.) says:

Wow - nice handwriting… I can’t write vintage style, heck I can’t spell either and I went to college.

spel chexer heps me git by n life so i dont seam reel stopid…

I used to have nice handwriting but now it looks like a chicken scratching on paper. I can draw tattoos on kids though. They like that and that’s all that matters….

LOL @ drawing tattoos on kids. I love spell checker. I like to get it right myself but it’s nice to have that backup in place too, especially when I’m in a rush which is most of the time.

  18. Slyde (128 comments.) says:

you had me at “salt and vinegar potatoe chips”…

    my absolute FAV!!

See? I knew you were cool. Those chips are the best. Yum. I just had some. Remind me of that when I wonder why I didn’t lose any weight this week.
    :(

  19. odette (68 comments.) says:

i love your little smiley! :)
it’s nice to see your handwriting, unfortunately i couldn’t write all cursive myself. all this being in front of the computer is the culprit, i sure wish i could still write as schoolteachers do! :)

this is a cool meme you came up with, it would be fun to see handwritings for a change!

I wonder if that is why I am forgetting some cursive? Too much keyboarding and not enough handwriting! LOL. Please feel free to steal the meme, Odette. You have wonderful handwriting as I already know from first-hand experience! :) And thanks about the smiley-face! :)

I hear you - sometime I’ll show you the rushed version of my handwriting. ;)

  22. michaelm (26 comments.) says:

Oh, salt & vinegar chips are to die for, ain’t they?
    I’m thirsty . . .
    ~m

Yummy - yeah, they do require some type of beverage to wash them down. ;)

  23. Merri (38 comments.) says:

    Thanks for the tag, Teeni!!!
Yes I guess we are starting to have HISTORY here at Wordpress!
I never thought that I would stick to it, but meeting such lovely fellow bloggers like YOU have kept me here!
LOL about the chips; for me it is “sunchips”..somehow they are so addictive to me,so I don’t buy them often..lol
    :)
I like your writing, but sorry, am no analyst…
    ;)

I feel the same way, Merri! I was very fortunate to have met such nice bloggers as you and Hannah and Kami early on in my blogging life. :) Oooh- sun chips sound good too. I don’t think I’ve had those before. But yes, I do try not to indulge too often. They are soooo good but also sooooo very bad! ;)

  24. Eric "Speedcat Hollydale" (118 comments.) says:

I did not forget about this … and am trying to get on the chatty list ((smile))

I didn’t forget yours either! I just am behind on all memes right now and kind of got the wind taken out of my sails for a bit.

  25. Eric "Speedcat Hollydale" (118 comments.) says:

…. ok, just one more comment.

    “hi Teeni!”

Hi Speedy! I love it when you breeze through. :) :) :)

  26. Kami (350 comments.) says:

Based on this, you have come so very far in 10 years! I am so glad that you have such a wonderful life with TGH:-)

Funny on the capital cursives! Jack is about to begin learning hand writing in school and was asking me how to make some of the capitals. Well if it didn’t take me 10 min to remember a capital I.

Yeesh! How soon we forget :)

Yes, I’m very fortunate and I think I’ve come a long way. TGH has been the best thing that ever happened to me. Oh, good - I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who forgot those cursive letters! Whew!

Fun meme. I think i’d like to use this, so I hope you don’t mind if I do. And, by the way, I love the post of the picture meme’s, too. You looked very sassy in your hats. You know I’m a hat girl!

Please do take the meme - I’d love to see yours. And no, I didn’t know you were a hat girl. Very cool! :) I do love hats. They are fun.
