Gifts and Gems

Posted By Teeni on January 25, 2009

First of all, I’d like to thank Javajunkee, also affectionately known as DoubleJ, for her concern over my recent disappearance from the blogosphere.  I did have a little medical situation to take care of.  It had me in a lot of pain which made me only want to sleep for the last few days.  I could barely open my laptop.   Usually I’ve got a high tolerance for pain but boy, when you feel it, it can take a lot out of you as so many of you know from first-hand experience.  Anyway, it wasn’t cancer-related and was not serious.  Other than that, I’ll spare you the details.  Please know that I am feeling much better and I really appreciate your concern.  :)  YOU are a gem, DoubleJ!

Another gem, my friend Em over at Em’s Hideaway, presented me with this special award that she made herself:

Award from Em

Award from Em

This dazzling award came with the rule that I had to pass it on to someone who has been an exceptional friend to me in blogland.  Needless to say, it will be going to DoubleJ and also to:

Joan

Birdpress

Kami

Hannah

TwoLazyDogs

Witchypoo

the BeadDen

CuriousC at IdeaJump, and the guys -

Peter Parkour

Bobby Revell

Speedcat Hollydale

All wonderful people who have been good friends to me in one wonderful way or another.  I wish I could hand them real jewels, but this award is pretty darn gorgeous, isn’t it?  I hope you all will take a copy of this award for yourselves and pass it on to someone who has been an exceptional friend to you in the blogosphere (no rush and no pressure, just like the memes, okay?).  Thank you so much for the award, Em and I apologize for not passing it on sooner!

In other news, my good friend Maleesha over at Binary Trash did a really cool thing before Christmas and I’m just finally getting around to doing it myself now.  I’m sorry it took me so long, Maleesha, but I didn’t forget.  I just have been having a tough time getting my head around these things and the time to put into the linkage until now.  Maleesha did a whole list of virtual gifts she would give to the people on her blogroll before Christmas and I thought it was such a nice gesture that she took the time to choose something each person would really appreciate (I got a tropical vacation so yeah, of COURSE I loved my virtual gift)!!!!  LOL.  So I would like to also do something similar for my blog buddies.  I apologize for the lateness in this but hey, gifts are cool all year round right?  Not to mention that some people may not celebrate Christmas.    Since I no longer have a normal blogroll, I chose two numbers from my head and picked all the people who had one of those numbers next to their names in my Top Commentater-Tots List.   And here are the gifts I would give to them.

Michelle Gartner - Some virtual bucks to spend on thrifting for vintage finds!

Speedy - Time off from work to spend playing with the granddaughter.  After all, he IS Grampa!

Chip - More time to read (or re-read) the classics.

Allison - Peace with and about her son.

Birdpress - I wont reveal here, but she once told me something she really, really wanted and I would grant her that wish.

dcr - To have as much encouragement and support given to him as he gives to others.

the Diva - Her confidence in her singing back (she’s got the singing - just needs the confidence).

Talina - A big home on a big piece of land for all her growing family and animals to roam around and enjoy.

Evyl - Tickets to travel the world and see all the freakiness there is to see.

Meleah Rebeccah - The confidence in herself that the rest of us have in her (that she is a beautiful person and is entitled to love, happiness and good things).

Mike Goad - All the equipment and resources he needs to keep his blogs up and running smoothly and just the way he likes, even when he’s on the road.

Rummy -  Freedom from political worries so he can enjoy his retirement in peace.  Hey wait, I wish that for ALL of US!  :)

Another award was given me that I almost forgot all about in all the excitement.  You see, Joan Harvest of Whatever I Think, presented me with this lovely award and then we had the holidays and then there was her announcement of her long-awaited dream coming true of her becoming a grandmother!  I apologize profusely for the lateness of this, my dear friend, Joan!  I just got so caught up in everything else going on.  But I truly appreciate it, especially because you still thought I was worthy even though I already have many awards.  You realize that they each mean a lot to me and that I don’t take them for granted and I thank you for that as well.  I will pass this award on to the lovely Marie at Memarie Lane (bonus - I think it will look good with her decor over there).   ;)

Lovely Blog Award

Lovely Blog Award

Thank you Joan!  And Marie I hope you will take a copy of this for your own safe keeping and to pass on to another deserving blogger.

Hope you continue to do well and that there is no recurrence of what had you down!

Thank you, Mike! Well, I am not sure if that is what YOU would really like - LOL - but it is what I would like for you so that I can keep up with where you are and what you are up to! Plus, you know I love your pictures. :) So maybe it’s a little selfish of me. ;)

Thanks, Speedy! Maleesha had a great idea with that gift list. I would like to continue to do little things like this on a smaller level in the future. :)

You’re the best, Teeni. Thank you so much. I agree that Marie’s award would match the rugs and drapes at her blog.

I’ve wanted to give her an award for a while and when I saw this one I couldn’t help but think of her! :)

Teeni, I am so sorry to hear you weren’t well. Also sorry that I didn’t know, some friend that is! I have been out of sorts lately and all wound up in my own stuff that I didn’t keep in touch. Sorry :(
I’m glad you are doing better. Thank you so much for the award. I really appreciate it because I know how genuine you are. Just reading your post lifted me right out of the gutter I was in. So thanks!

I agree with Eric, such a sweet and thoughtful post. Congrats on your awards, always well deserved.

    love and ((((hugs))) to you!

Oh, I am so glad if this post helped you out of the gutter. I hope you are well - I’ve been thinking a lot of you lately. And don’t you dare feel one bit bad about not knowing I wasn’t well. I surely don’t expect you to have ESP or to be babysitting me! LOL. And we are all on our own busy schedules. I still consider you one of my good friends. :)

  12. Peter Parkour (6 comments.) says:

I’m really sorry I haven’t been making my presence around here more known. I have been way behind on my reading, but I just go caught up last night. Still, I haven’t been doing much commenting anywhere. Little to none really. I was so far behind that I didn’t even realize your absence. I’m very sorry to hear that you haven’t been feeling well. :( But I’m very happy to hear that you feeling good enough to be doing a little catch up like myself. :D That you so very much for my award. I’m glad to see I haven’t been forgotten during my absence, and nor have you. ;) This used to be one of my most regular stops, and now I almost feel like a stranger around here. Sorry I haven’t been around. I just haven’t been myself lately. Sorry, that’s the best I can do in the excuse department. :? Please forgive me. Not sure if you are aware of it or not, but I did that 6 pics meme you sent my way forever ago just today. :) I’m trying my best to get back into the swing of things. Congratulation on your awards and to those you passed them onto. Catch you later sweetie. I’m outta here.

You have made such wonderful comments here in the past that have made such a good impression on me that you would never be forgotten, my friend. And you don’t need to apologize for any absence. Just remember you are always welcome here because even if you don’t recognize the place - I’m still the same. I do hope you get back to feeling like yourself though because I miss you - that’s all. :) You take care of you. And I did see the picture meme - thanks for doing it - I loved seeing you! :)

  13. Allison (26 comments.) says:

Thank you, Teeni, for the sentiment. It is much much appreciated, and that you even thought of me is an honor. I can be easily forgotten or lost in the fray, I’m afraid.
What? You - lost in the fray? Never, my dear. You are much too remarkable for that. :)

  22. birdpress (114 comments.) says:

Aww, thank you so much, Teeni! You are such a great friend, and I’m so glad to have met you!

I’m so sorry to hear you had a “medical situation” and I’m sorry for not commenting here sooner. I did stop by here this morning but you hadn’t posted this yet then. Just know that I HAVE been checking for you though! You sure did get a lot of comments in that short time I was away so I know there are plenty of people thinking about you.

I’m glad to know you are okay, although it sucks that you were in pain. I hope it is all over by now.

Thanks so much, Birdpress! You are a good friend too. :) I did mean to post this sooner (I thought I would have it done this morning but it took me a while to put it together with all the links in it). LOL.

I am sorry to hear about your recent medical problems. I am however heartened to see you up and about and as cheerful as ever. Keep it up.

Thanks, Rummy. It’s hard not to be cheerful when the sun is shining like it is today. It’s very cold out there, but it is still a glittering day. :)

  29. Care (1 comments.) says:

On behalf of CuriousC at IdeaJump!, I accept this award and know with certainty that she is deeply touched and honored to be mentioned among this amazing list of bloggers. The admiration and respect she has for Teeni cannot be overstated, and she thanks Teeni, the cast and crew, her agent and, of course, her dog Oscar. Thank you, thank you ever so much!

  32. Debo Hobo (72 comments.) says:

OMG! I do so hate it when i don’t make it on your lists. :(
Congrats to all the wonderful bloggers you have mentioned and the recognition is well deserved.

I hope you are feeling better, let me know if there is anything I can help you with.

Aw, you are always on my mental lists, Debo! :) But yeah, every time I do one of these things, I think of people afterwards whom I should have included! I hate that! As long as you know I love you and really do highly value your friendship, that’s all that matters. Hugs to you and thanks for the offer - you are all kinds of wonderful and I’m so glad to know you!

  33. 2lazydogs (49 comments.) says:

Eeek. So sorry to hear you were in pain, Teeni. No fun, no fun at all. You know I was right there with you, what with my aching back. OUCH!

Thanks, Kilax! Yeah, Maleesha is very cool and creative that way.

  35. Michelle Gartner (106 comments.) says:

Thanks Teeni- but I wish I could buy more time with my virtual bucks not things. I wish I had more time to hang out with people online and offline. It gets so crazy busy some times… I hope you are doing better!

Hmmm - you have very good points. I change my gift to you into time and not virtual bucks. :) Cause I’m selfish that way and wish you and I could spend more time hanging out too! :)

  36. Ginger Magnolia (37 comments.) says:

I’m sorry you were under the weather, but glad that you’re up and about again.

Thanks, Ginger! Boy I had a lot to catch up on at your place! :) Hope you are well.

Thank you, Natalie! I’m much better now. Yeah - I did do a lot in this one post, huh? LOL.

  39. dcr (151 comments.) says:

Glad you’re feeling better. I just figured you weren’t posting because you didn’t have any ideas. I suffered from that last week. Looking like that particular virus may be continuing this week too. ;-)
LOL. I never run out of ideas. Tons of them are in draft mode in my dashboard but I do sometimes run out of steam. :) If you need some ideas, I’d be happy to share some.

  40. javajunkee (61 comments.) says:

  45. meleah rebeccah (14 comments.) says:

Oh honey. I am glad to hear that you are feeling better. I’m sorry I have been so self-absorbed that I haven’t been over to your blog often enough.

CONGRATS on the award. That is wonderful and well deserved.

What you wrote about me brought tears to my eyes. I could use a healthy dose of confidence these days.

    You my dear, are AWESOMENESS

Aw shucks, I didn’t say anything that wasn’t true. And don’t worry about visiting so much. No pressure. You have to take care of your stuff. Of course, I AM always happy to see you when you can come by! :)

  46. Michelle Gartner (106 comments.) says:

It looks so pretty over here and proper too… Except for your Meez- she looks like she could break china and pour hot tea on people in a blink of an eye.

Your tea room hostess is scar-eee and not in a good way.

LOL. Yeah, she probably could be like a bull in a china shop. Well, I’ll be changing her again soon. ;)

  47. Casdok (27 comments.) says:

Glad your feeling better and congrats on the awards.
I love the virtual gift idea :)
Thanks, Casdok! Good to see you. :) I’ve been wondering what you’ve been up to.

LOL. I know what you mean. Thanks! :) And stop telling everyone what I do when TGH isn’t around! ;)
