Late Again, Sorry, and the Winner is…

Posted By Teeni on June 15, 2009

First I have to apologize for being  late with this post.  I planned on choosing a winner and posting the results last Thursday.  Unfortunately, I’ve been sort of “out of commission.”  I wasn’t sure if I wanted to share this info on the blogs until after it was all over or not but since it has already impacted me more than I thought it would, I may as well just let you know that I did start the process of breast reconstruction.  My first surgery was on Wednesday and let me just tell you in no uncertain terms that I felt like I was hit by a truck, backed up over, and run over again.  According to my mom, that is also how I looked (thanks, Mom).

I have been doing not much more than sleep, eat, and moan and groan for the past few days.  I’m an expert at the moaning and groaning now - practice really does make perfect.  Just ask TGH!  Speaking of  TGH, since I’ve been sort of worthless lately, I have enlisted the help of my man to do the winner drawing video.  It’s interesting to see the difference when he uses my giant teapot to pull the names and when I do.  He is clearly towering over the table and the teapot only looks normal sized.  When I do the video, you can clearly see that it is an oversized teapot.  What does this have to do with anything?  Absolutely nothing.  But I think I like Vicodin (or it’s generic substitute) now and Tylenol is also very good.

So here is the video of the winner’s name being drawn.  Congratulations and please forward your info to me as soon as you can so we can get some of Odette’s lovely craftiness on it’s way to you!

If I had a time, I could have sent healing during/right after surgery. But I will send it now. Thanks! It was really cool watching the winner! What did the winner win?
And? How did you manage to type a post less than a week after surgery?
    Whew!

Sent you an email with the details! Congratulations!!!

teeni - I hope that the healing goes well and that the rest of the process is not as bad as the beginning.

Thanks so much, Mike! It’s slowly getting better, but keep those good thoughts coming at me. :)

I’m sorry you are feeling so much pain from the surgery. It might not help you much, but whenever I’m feeling really bad I have to consciously remind myself sometimes that the pain will not last forever! No matter how much it might feel like it right now. Hopefully you will soon be over the worst of it and feeling much more comfortable in your own skin.

    Congrats to the winner!

Thanks, Birdpress. It does help. Sometimes we all could use that reminder. I did get quite frustrated at times thinking I was never going to be comfortable again but thankfully, it’s been slowly getting better. :)

    Gentle Hugs Teeni.

Healing vibes sent from here too.

After my last c section, I was on tramadol. I got HIGH I tell you.

    Congratulations to Witchyppo for winning.

LOL - I am not one to take drugs unless I absolutely HAVE to (not even Tylenol) so I think I am more sensitive to them or something. I can’t even imagine what Tramadol would have done to me. LOL. But I will admit, I sure am glad those drugs exist for times like this. Thanks so much for the good vibes. They are very welcome here. :)

Oh Teeni, healing vibes going your way. Enjoy the drugs. *gentle hugs*

Thanks so much, Anja! The vibes and hugs are so appreciated. I am getting a bit better each day but there was a point where I was sure I was going to be feeling awful forever. You know what I mean? So glad to be getting past that now. Whew!

    Congrats to witchypoo.

Don’t worry about delays in blogging. Just take care of yourself and hope things will get better for you and that future procedures won’t be as bad.

Just try to post a status report once in a while to let us know you’re okay. A Twitter friend passed away unexpectedly about a week ago, so it’s more worrisome now when someone seems to disappear from the virtual world!

Thanks for the kind words, dcr! I sincerely appreciate them. As for the Twitter friend, I’m so very sorry to hear such sad news. :(

YOu should be resting anyway, not blogging. Tsk. Tsk.

TGH did a good job. Should have had a drum roll playing in the background though. :P I’m just sayin’

Okay, Dad. LOL. Thanks for caring. :) I will tell TGH about the drum roll but I don’t think he has quite as good a handle on the video making as you do!

    Congrats to Witchypoo!

I am sorry that your surgery took more out of you than expected. My mum has had breast reduction surgery, and although not as complex as yours I am sure, I know she was fairly wasted after hers for quite some time! And she was surprised at how hard it hit her. You just rest up and don’t worry about blogland … we’ll be fine, and you can catch up later when you have recovered. Thinking of you lots and lots, and sending lots of healing prayers your way. Hugs!

Thank you, Hannah! I appreciate all the kind words and encouragement. I had no idea how bad this would feel but it is slowly getting better and I think the worst is over. Whew! :)

    Thank you, sweet friend! :)

Rest up Teeni!!!! What are you doing blogging and apologising?!? Your mum does have a nice way of putting things ;) Congrats to Witchypoo :)!!

LOL! Okay, I get the idea! I will not apologize anymore. I’ll just take my time to get better! Thanks, mini-Mum! ;)

I was wondering where you have been, I can only imagine how painful that must be. Rest up and keep up the moaning and groaning, you know it’s helping for sure;)

Here’s hoping you are through the worst of this surgery! Thinking of you :)

Glad to read that awful feeling has started to pass…its a horrid feeling and a little like a waking nightmare …or in my experience anyway

Am sorry you had to go through this…no magik wand to make you all better…but then again if there were a magik wand you would never have been ill in the first place.

    Rest and recover dear teeni

    Love and prayers

    Congratulations to Witchypoo
Ughh I can’t say that I know how you feel. I had three c sections and none of them really felt that bad. Hope you get better real quick!!!

  18. Michelle Gartner (109 comments.) says:

Oh yeah and vicodin is terrible- that stuff makes my head hurt just thinking about it… you must be in pain.

I know - I hate taking anything unless I am really in need of it but I will tell you I am glad I had that stuff this time.

  19. Debo Hobo (72 comments.) says:

    Atta girl!

Your hubby is the greatest, so nice of him to help out in a pinch. Congrats to the winner. Actually we are all winners just by having you as a friend ;)
He really is! I wish I could clone him. :) Aw, you are too nice to me. But don’t stop!!!! I like it!!! LOL.

  20. kilax (66 comments.) says:

Is the pain you are experiencing typical? I hope you feel better soon!

Hi Kilax! I think it is normal for what I went through. Since I already spilled the beans, I will probably provide a few more details in a post about it in the next few days. Thanks so much for the good wishes. :)

  21. Reluctant Blogger (46 comments.) says:

Oh Teeni. Poor you. So brave to go ahead with the surgery. I’m sorry you are suffering so much though. I hope you start to feel better soon.

I will of course email you with my new url when I get organised.

    Hi Teeni,
I hope that you feel better soon. I took the password off my protected post a few days after I posted it so you can read it. It’s called “Out of control”. I didn’t get your email, I think it may have gone to my junk mail or something, sometimes it does that. So I will go check it. I am doing much better now. I am glad you are enjoying my pictures too, I enjoy taking them.
I’ll keep you in my prayers and hope you feel better soon.

sending much love and prayers for fast healing your way. I know how much pain my aunt had with her reconstruction. I think you are very brave for being so upfront about it all and sharing so much of your journey with us.

    very gentle hugs

I keep seeing these videos and imagining someone randomly finding them on youtube. The let down they must feel when nothing catches on fire at the end. ;)

You’re holding? Pass it on! I know the pain will be worth it in the end, hon. Stay strong! I’m pulling for you.

    Hey Teens,
Well I’m glad for you that you found a surgeon to do your surgery and I also feel for you because I do know what is involved in having that type of procedure. Be good to yourself, get as much rest as you need and just know you will be out the other side of this soon. Sending you good healing vibes.

Oooo…I’m so sorry I haven’t been visiting lately….I’m missing all sorts of things. I do hope you are feeling better. Eek. Vicodin is NOT my friend, nor is any other heavy duty pain med.

Sending you warm, fuzzy thoughts for a speedy recovery!

Attagirl re the surgery Teeni (and sorry to be a Johnny-come-lately re your news). I wish you all the best for a speedy recovery and the results you want.

Anything that aids or restores a person’s self-confidence in this world has got to be worth it, much though I salute those who manage to triumph regardless of any outside help (I know that I for one would choose the outside help though!)

    Great teapot vid!
